Alpinestars S-MX6 boots, three month review
Three months and many rides later, the Alpinestars S-MX6 boots are proving to be one of the better investments I’ve made lately. It certainly didn’t feel like that in the beginning. Vikrant has a habit of wearing his boots all day long, and I tried to emulate him. However, a few hours into day 1, my feet were giving me warning signs. I removed my boot for the rest of the time in office, and wore it for the ride back home. At night, I realised I couldn’t feel my first two toes on my right foot! My feet have a high top, but this was ridiculous. Thankfully, feeling returned to the toes in a couple of days. I persevered with the boots, and a few rides later, they had adapted to the shape of my feet. A happy side effect was the fact that removing them didn’t involve me huffing and puffing and panting like a dog in summer afterward. The boots offer protection without restricting movement too much, and as such can be worn to walk around as well after the ride, unlike a proper track-use-only boot.
Now that summer is here, the S-MX6 pair will be my boot of choice thanks to its full ventilation. It is so much better than both the touring boots and the offroad boots when it is hot. Come the monsoon, my preference will change. Despite the seemingly high price, the quality shines through, and I’d heartily recommend them to anyone who needs a well-ventilated full boot for street and mild track use.
