Product Review: Greasehouse Grunt-390 Duke slip-on exhaust system - Introduction

Greasehouse Grunt slip-on exhaust system.

The Grunt exhaust you see in the pictures, is a slip-on muffler which you can fit either on a KTM Duke 390 or the RC390. Made by Greasehouse customs, this exhaust features full stainless steel construction for the main muffler and aluminium for the end caps. Thanks to stainless steel or aluminium used, the Grunt exhaust will remain rust free, which is a boon in a humid cities like Mumbai. In this black edition, the entire muffler, including the connecting bend pipe is covered in powder coated matte black. Inside the muffler, Greasehouse have employed ceramic wool packing, which will last longer, should give a bassy note and help thermal insulation too. Greasehouse also promises a jump in engine midrange performance, which we can only confirm once we test it on our Vbox timing gear.

As soon as we opened the box, we were impressed by the quality levels of this slip-on muffler. Even the stainless steel bend-pipe looks neat, thanks to it being a single piece without any weld seams. This quality comes at a price though. The Greasehouse Grunt exhaust will set you back by Rs 14,990 all-inclusive. In the coming months we will see how easy or difficult it is to install the system yourself and if it can magically make the brappy Duke 390 sound any better.
