Royal Enfield Hill Duffel Bag Introduction
Royal Enfield’s progression towards becoming a lifestyle brand has led to the launch of its new range of motorcycling accessories, gear and luggage. The Hill duffel bag is one of the most affordable products in the luggage range. A portable replacement for a motorcycle top case, it can also double up as a backpack courtesy straps that ship with the duffel bag.
So far, I had been using regular duffel bags strapped onto the rear seat to carry around my luggage during rides. While these don’t pose any problem as long as you secure them properly, a purpose built motorcycle luggage will always be more convenient to use. This is where the Hill duffel bag steps in.
The quality of the Hill duffel bag is impressive and the 36-litre capacity is abundant for my weekend rides. The heavy duty vinyl construction of this top roll bag gives it a very rugged appearance. It comes with sealable seams and is fully waterproof. Once sealed, you have to roll down the seam and buckle it up. An air exhaust system lets you get rid of the air inside the bag and make it compact. The Hill duffel bag also ships with two different pair of straps with buckles to secure it on the tail. Hooks have been conveniently positioned to simplify securing it on the rear seat or the tail rack. Two sturdy handles make it convenient to carry it around.
You do have to take a couple of precautions when pack your luggage. The single opening makes it a bag to stuff your things inside rather than pack them carefully. You have to either put the essentials that you might require often on top, or be prepared to keep removing luggage in and out of the bag. Lack of external pockets is disappointing.
At Rs 5,000, the Hill duffel bag is an expensive proposition, but the lack of similar products in the market gives Royal Enfield a monopoly. You buy it at the Royal Enfield gear store or different e-commerce websites. The closest competitors are tailbags like DirtsackTailpack, RYNOX Hawk Tailbag, ViaTerra Claw Mini and ViaTerra Raptor Motorcycle Tailbag, all of which are more affordable than Hill duffel bag. Of course, you can opt for different saddle bags to suit the same purpose, but they won’t be as convenient to carry around or as versatile as the Hill duffel bag. We will be back with a detailed report with its pros and cons. Stay tuned!
