Product Review: Zeus ZS-811
I am a sucker for high-visibility helmets. Wearing high visibility gear instantly draws other drivers’ eyes towards you, making it one of the easiest ways to make yourself conspicuous. The safety angle aside, high-visibility helmets just look cool.
The helmet we have over here is the Zeus ZS-811. Zeus is a relatively new helmet brand in the Indian market. Based out of Taiwan, the manufacturer had registered this trademark in India back in 2005, though it wasn’t until 2016 that they started importing and selling helmets here.
The Zeus-811 gets a thermoplastic polymer construction. It gets a double-D ring mechanism to secure the chin strap. There are two inlet vents at the top and one near the chin, and two outlet vents at the rear. Fewer the number of vents, better the noise isolation. There is also a breath deflector to prevent your breath from fogging up the visor, and to shield your nose from wind. Both the cheek pads and the head liner are removable and washable. The space near the ear has foam bits, which can be removed according to the rider’s convenience. This same space can also be used to install the head piece of a Bluetooth communication system like a Sena 3S or a Sena 20S. Tipping the scales at just 1.53kg, the Zeus ZS-811 is one of the lighter helmets that I currently use. It’s got all the features that you’d expect from a helmet in this price bracket, nothing more and nothing less.
The ZS-811 is ECE 22.05 certified, which is an international helmet protection standard. ECE stands for Economic Commission for Europe, while 22.05 refers to the specific regulation. ECE 22.05 is the most commonly used helmet standard, required by over 50 countries worldwide, with the simple goal of regulating helmet performance for protection of riders’ heads. Also, this helmet complies with all the safety regulations required by FMSCI for track racing in India.
The Zeus ZS-811 is available in sizes ranging from Small to XL. Oh yes, and for those who aren’t fans of high-visibility riding gear, Zeus also has a range of solid and graphic schemes. Prices begin at Rs 4,400 for solid and Rs 4,600 for graphic helmets - you can get yours from select riding gear stores across the country.
