Report 2
I know you’re reading a report on the Kaza adventure touring jacket and trousers after a long time but there are two reasons to it. Firstly, I wasn’t riding to office as I was helping out the car team, so most of the time I was using four wheelers to drive to work. Secondly, in summers, I avoided this gear. Why? Because I couldn’t bear the Mumbai heat for four hours, daily.
In the last report, I did appreciate the ventilation and the comfort the jacket offered but that was from the winter riding experience. In summers, things were different. Textile jackets are known for their lack of ventilation, but Kaza has zippers on the back of the torso pockets, arms and back. However, only the zippers on the arms worked well and that’s because the arms are bent while riding. So there’s enough gap for the air to blow in. However, it is not the same story with the torso and back zippers. Their placement aren’t air-friendly and as a result, they are not effective in summers.
I’ve never been happy with the trousers in the comfort department. Other than offering amazing protection and practicality, there’s nothing more to it. There are no ventilated zippers and no mesh. That leaves you with lot of sweat and no space to breathe. I have had two falls while riding the trails and both the times the lower body had the most contact. But the 650D polyester material took the beating and there’s no sign of any damage to the exterior of the trousers. Also, the zippers tend to get stuck if the riding gear is used in dusty conditions. I’ve had a hard time operating the arms and the torso zippers after riding off the road.
But now, monsoon has arrived in full force and I’m going to take the Royal Enfield Kaza Class touring jacket and trousers out of the closet and ride once again.
Stay tuned for the monsoon update.
