Scooters have come a long way from being only practical and easy-to-go rides to sporty and feature-packed gear-less steeds. However, the former type is still widely popular and in demand. When we say family scooters, it should be something which meets the requirements of almost every age group. This includes aspects like a large floorboard and underseat storage space along with decent fuel economy and a loved-by-all styling. And when pricing is also a concern, 110cc scooters make more sense than the 125cc offerings.
Before you head out in the market in search of one such family scooter, here’s a list of top three of them.
For those not in the know, the Honda Activa is the highest-selling scooter in India. It offers almost everything that a family scooter should have including a frugal 110cc engine, impressive fuel economy and sturdy metal body panels. With the latest transition from 5G to 6G, it has also gained telescopic forks and a larger 12-inch front wheel which has substantially improved its ride quality and stability. The floorboard space and underseat storage capacity have also gone up marginally. However, where the Activa falls behind the others is in the feature department as it doesn’t get a digital display while LED headlamp is available only in the top-end deluxe variant.
The Jupiter 110 is TVS’ take on the Honda Activa. It sports a similar conventional scooter styling with a 110cc engine. However, the Jupiter has an upper hand in terms of modernity with a semi-digital display and front disc brake available as an option, both of which aren’t offered in the Activa. Interestingly, the Grande edition of the Jupiter is also the first and only (till date) 110cc scooter to get a Bluetooth-enabled display which is TVS’ SmartXconnect setup. As for the practicality part, with a mileage of around 50kmpl and spacious footboard and underseat utility provision along with luggage hooks, it is also an ideal daily driver.
Besides the practicality aspects which aforementioned scooters deliver, if you’re also looking for a design which will help you stand out, the Hero Maestro Edge should be your go-to choice. Accompanying the trendy design are handy features such as USB charging socket, underseat storage lamp, engine immobilizer and external fuel filler cap. Its 110cc engine might not be as refined as that of the Jupiter and Activa, however, it is decently fuel-efficient. Moreover, Hero’s largest service network makes your life all the more easier.
