Introduction
The entry-level commuter motorcycles need to fulfill several requirements such as comfort, good ride quality, low maintenance cost, and be able to guzzle less fuel as prudently as possible. Thankfully, our market is filled with products which possess these qualities and cater to the needs of the budget-conscious Indian buyers. If you’re on a lookout for one such motorcycle, here are the four most affordable commuters to buy.
Notably, some of the brands have more than one bike which fall in this category. However, to bring you more variety, we have considered just a single model from each brand that is included here.
1. Bajaj CT 100: Rs 44,122-51,802
The Bajaj CT 100 has been carrying the crown of India’s cheapest motorcycle ever since its inception. The motorcycle sports a minimalistic and rugged design with a spacious and thick foamed seat, as is the case with most commuters. Its 99.3cc, air-cooled engine, which produces 7.7bhp and 8.34Nm in its BS6 form, is known for its impressive mileage. Moreover, Bajaj has equipped it with a spring-in-spring (SNS) suspension setup which is meant to deliver a good ride quality. The Bajaj CT 100 comes in two variants – kick start and self start.
2. Hero HF Deluxe: Rs 48,000-57,175
After the Bajaj CT 100, the second most affordable bike suitable for daily commute is the Hero HF Deluxe. This too is powered by a puny 97.2cc, fuel-injected motor which makes 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm of torque. For saving more fuel during brief stops, Hero has bestowed it with the i3S system which automatically turns off the engine if left idle for a few seconds. Moreover, the HF Deluxe customers enjoy Hero’s service network which is the largest in India. The available variants are kick start with spoke wheels, kick start with alloy wheels, and self start with alloy wheels.
3. TVS Sport: Rs 53,700-60,225
The TVS Sport is next in line of economic daily drivers. It justifies its name by featuring a sporty styling with angular body panels all over. It also gets blacked out alloy wheels and engine which give it a modern look. Propelling the bike is a 110cc, fuel-injected mill capable of putting out 9.1bhp and 8.7Nm. Notably, this is the only product in this list which gets LED DRLs accompanying its halogen headlamp. TVS offers the Sport in two trims including - kick start and self start.
4. Honda CD 110 Dream: Rs 64,505-65,505
The Honda CD 110 Dream is the fourth model in this list which is a similar package as the aforementioned ones but demands relatively more money. It carries a design which is similar to that of the Hero HF Deluxe but gets sharper edges. The motorcycle runs a 109.5cc, fuel-injected engine which produces 8.67bhp and 9.30Nm. Other aspects are typical of this segment with a fully-analogue instrument cluster, conventional lighting, 18-inch wheels, telescopic forks, dual shock absorbers, and drum brakes with CBS. The CD 110 Dream comes in a standard and a deluxe variant.
