5 affordable fuel-injected motorcycles in India
The Indian automotive industry will migrate to BS VI emission norms in 2020. With this move, all motorcycles sold in India will have to feature fuel-injection systems in place of carburettors to keep their emissions in check. However, there are a bunch of motorcycles that are already offered with this technology. And the good news is that you don’t have to shell out a fortune to get your hands on these. Here are the five most affordable fuel-injected motorcycles that you can buy in India -
Hero Glamour FI - Rs 66,700
The Hero Glamour is the only 125cc commuter bike to be sold in India with a fuel-injection system. It is also a closed-loop system, unlike a few other pricier motorcycles in this list. Not just that, the 124cc engine also makes it the most powerful motorcycle in the segment. It even gets a digital display with a trip computer, trendy styling and paint schemes to give it an edge in the cut-throat market space. Sure, it does cost as much as some 150cc executive commuter bikes like the Pulsar and the Achiever, but the Glamour FI promises better fuel efficiency. It costs Rs 4,700 more than the carburetted Glamour.
TVS Apache RTR 160 4V EFI - Rs 90,990
For a long time, the TVS Apache RTR 160 was the only motorcycle in the segment to get a fuel-injection system. The Apache RTR 160 4V has now taken its place. It is powered by a 159cc engine, which is again the most powerful in the segment, while the styling is similar to the bigger RTR 200 4V. It costs Rs 6,000 more than the carburetted variant.
Yamaha FZ - Rs 81,040
Although TVS was the first manufacturer to offer FI in the segment, it was Yamaha who introduced it as a standard feature in the FZ in 2014. Yamaha dropped the displacement and power output, although there was a significant increase in the fuel efficiency. However, it is worth noting that the FZ and the slightly more expensive FZ-S are both offered with open-loop FI systems, which do not get an oxygen sensor.
Suzuki Gixxer SF FI - Rs 93,032
The Suzuki Gixxer SF FI is another premium commuter bike to get an open-loop FI system. Nevertheless, the FI variant is just Rs 3,000 pricier than the carburetted variant, which makes it a really good value-for-money proposition.
Suzuki Intruder FI - Rs 1.06 lakhs
The Suzuki Intruder is a cruiser based on the Gixxer’s platform. It was launched only with a carburettor, although now it is also available with an open-loop FI system. The 154cc powertrain is shared with the Gixxer SF FI, and produces 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque. However, unlike the Gixxer SF FI, the Intruder FI is Rs 7,000 more expensive than the carburetted bike.
All prices are ex-showroom.
