Top 6 most expensive motorcycles in India
Here is a list of the 6 most expensive motorcycles available in India. The list features cruisers, race bikes and even a tourer. Unsurprisingly, the only manufacturer to take two spots on the list is Ducati. Yes, most of us can’t afford them but getting to know them is interesting and inspiring nonetheless. All prices listed below are Ex-showroom Mumbai.
6 - BMW K1600 GTL – Rs 36,28,746
The most affordable in the list (oh the irony!) is the BMW K1600 GTL. The GTL is very similar to the GT let aside the relaxed riding position and the softer rear spring. The motorcycle gets a transversely mounted inline six-cylinder 1649cc 24 valve engine producing a maximum of 158bhp and 175Nm of torque. A six-speed gearbox transmits all that power to the rear-wheel through a shaft. The motorcycle is built on a bridge-type frame made of cast aluminium. The front suspension gets a Motorrad duolever, central spring strut and at the rear it gets a paralever set up (single-sided swing arm) keeping it 146mm above the ground. The motorcycle tips the scales at 321kg!
5 - Indian Roadmaster – Rs 38,14,250
Indian Motorcycles had officially revealed the 2015 Roadmaster luxury touring motorcycle in the second half of 2014, reviving the moniker which was last seen on the iconic manufacturer’s 2009 models. The Roadmaster is powered by the same 111 cubic inch or 1811cc ‘Thunder-Stroke’ V-twin engine which is also used in the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the Chieftain rated at 139Nm of torque. What really makes this motorcycle so expensive is the modern creature comforts like keyless ignition, ABS, tyre-pressure sensors and LED lights, electrically adjustable visor, remote central locking for luggage cases and adjustable floorboards. It also gets heated leather seats with 10 individual settings for the rider as well as the pillion.
4 - Ducati 1299 Panigale S – Rs 39,96,000
The Ducati 1299 Panigale S is a performance-oriented version of the standard 1299 Panigale. Aesthetically, a carbon fibre front mudguard and full LED headlights set the 1299 Panigale S apart from the standard bike. The engine produces 202bhp and 145Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed transmission. The electronics package includes a quick shifter, power modes, cornering ABS and traction control. The 1299 Panigale S rides on 43mm fully adjustable Ohlins USD forks in the front and fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock with electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment at the rear.
3 - Ducati 1299 Panigale R – Rs 46,11,000
Yes, taking third spot is another Ducati and this time it is their flagship, the 1299 R. The R was developed to homologate Ducati’s World Superbike race machine and is the flagship model in Ducati’s line up. Powering the Panigale R is a 1,198cc Superquadro engine which delivers 205bhp and 136Nm of torque. The six-speed transmission comes with a quick shifter. The Panigale R is based on the same Monoscocca monocoque chassis though the suspension has been tuned to suit the bike’s track-focussed character. The electronics package has also been further optimised to suit the race track. The lithium-ion battery and the lightweight Akrapovic titanium exhaust system have brought the kerb weight down to 162kgs. The Panigale R rides on lightweight Marchesini Y spoke forged aluminium wheels which come shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres. It surely is the most extreme and track-focussed Ducati that money can buy.
2 - MV Agusta F4 RC - Rs 50,10,000
Italian again, hardcore track-focussed motorcycle again but this one is produced in a limited number. The MV Agusta F4 RC is limited to only 250 units worldwide and only three will make it to India. So what do you get for your money? 212bhp, 111Nm of torque, 175kg and the finest carbon fibre and suspension known to man. The F4 RC comes with fully adjustable Ohlins suspension. It also comes with top-spec Brembos and lightweight, forged aluminium wheels. Liberal use of magnesium alloy for parts like the engine and cylinder head covers, bucket-loads of titanium bolts and a titanium race exhaust all help the F4 RC shed 15kg.
1 - Harley-Davidson CVO Limited – Rs 51,49,000
Yes, with an ex-showroom price of just over half a crore, the Harley-Davidson CVO Limited is the most expensive motorcycle officially sold in India. The CVO Limited is a limited edition laidback cruiser which has been built around Harley-Davidson’s innovative Touring chassis, based on a single-spar, rigid backbone frame. The CVO Limited is powered by Harley-Davidson’s largest displacement V-twin unit, the Twin Cam 110. This 1,801cc high-output engine gets Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and has been tuned for maximum low-end torque. The engine is rated at 156Nm of torque and comes with a six-speed Cruise Drive Transmission.
Being a Project Rushmore motorcycle, the CVO Limited comes loaded with all the creature comforts that Harley-Davidson has to offer. Airflow, heat management, passenger space, back rests, seat textures. The enormous leg room batwing fairing, which has been reworked to reduce head buffeting make this motorcycle one of the best touring cruisers of all time.
