Life without a two-wheeler is difficult these days for each one of us. Without one, you’ll find it difficult to go to office or to a supermarket. But the best part is, there’s plenty of options for us to go through, especially for women. In fact, the market is so big that most of the manufacturers have women centric scooters and in this story, we list out the top six.
TVS Scooty Zest 110
TVS has always marketed the brand Scooty at women and the Scooty Zest 110 is no different. It has the right amount of attractive styling and not to forget the wide range of colours to choose from. The Scooty Zest 110 also has a peppy 110cc motor, which is mated to a CVT gearbox that performs flawlessly. There’s a built-in USB phone charger under the seat that can easily eat up a half face helmet. And there’s also a front and underseat hook for your bags. All this at a very attractive price of Rs 45,513 (ex-showroom Delhi) and it weighs just 98.5kg.
Yamaha Fascino
The Fascino is the highest selling Yamaha scooter. Why? Because it’s a perfect blend of great design and practicality, with majority of the points going towards the former. While some of us relate this scooter to the Vespa , the truth is, the scooter does have some design inspiration from the Italian. However, it is priced way lower than the Vespas at Rs 53,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of practicality for daily use, you get a wide floorboard, small storage at front and under seat hooks. Unfortunately, the Fascino misses out on the USB phone charging socket. The 113cc engine is smooth, refined and usable for city commuting. The scooter is light too at 103kg.
Vespa VXL 125
Easily the best looking scooter available in the Indian market too, but also the most expensive one. The VXL 125 will empty your bank account by 80,691 (ex-showroom Delhi). But at that price you get a monocoque chassis, good engine, brilliant brakes and lot of attention on the road. The 125cc engine produces 11.4bhp at 7000rpm and 11.5Nm at 5500rpm. The gearbox is decent too and does the job of an engaging city ride. And yes, it comes in attractive colours.
Honda Activa-i
The oldest of the lot, the Activa-i, is the most affordable Activa scooter in the range. Targeted at women riders, it has the right set of appeal and comfort. The scooter is compact and light at 103kg - something that’ll prove useful for everyone. Safety-wise, it gets the combi-braking system (CBS) that’s useful during heavy or panic braking. The 110cc engine is very refined and smooth and there’ll be no issues in long run. In terms of utility, there’s a decent amount of space under seat and a luggage hook. The Honda Activa-i can be yours at Rs 46,596 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Hero Pleasure
The Pleasure from Hero is a nice compact scooter that comes in attractive body colours. In terms of overall style, the Pleasure is the least attractive of all, but Hero has tried to make it look attractive with dual tone colour options. For utility, the Pleasure is loaded with front storage as well as with under seat storage and not just that, there’s a tiny boot light that’ll help you find things easily. This 100cc scooter produces 6.91bhp and 8.10. However, its kerb weight of 101kg is what it makes it practical and usable in city. The Pleasure is also equipped with integrated-braking system (IBS).
Suzuki Lets
The Suzuki Lets is another example of a compact, lightweight easy to ride scooter. With an 112cc motor, the Lets is one of the most easy to ride scooters in India. And not just that, it looks quite attractive too, thanks to the new dual tone paint and the racing decals. The Lets also get storage space in the front and under seat along with mobile charging point. With a kerb weight of just 98kg, this scooter is the lightest of all. If you like the Lets, then be ready to shell out Rs 45,663 (ex-showroom Delhi).
