The Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special is the Milwaukee-based manufacturer’s premium touring offering that goes up against the Indian Chieftain.
The bike sports a traditional American cruiser design thanks to its low-slung styling along with the ‘batwing’ fairing. Although the overall design language of the bike is similar to the outgoing model, the new Street Glide Special gets blacked-out components, engine and exhaust pipes. The only use of chrome is on the highlights of the engine and the nuts and bolts. The saddlebags are now longer and sharper to accentuate the low-slung custom look of the bike. The 2018 Street Glide Special also rides on a newly-designed 19-inch Talon front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel.
The cruiser motorcycle continues to get the Boom! Box infotainment system that features a 6.5-inch touchscreen and two speakers which sit on the front fairing. This entertainment system gets Bluetooth connectivity combined with voice recognition, text-to-speech technology, GPS Navigation and support for intercom and CB communications all in a single module.
The Street Glide Special is powered by the Milwaukee Eight 107 engine which is new for this year. The engine is a 1745cc V-Twin that produces 145Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive.
Available in four standard colours- black, white, cherry and red, the Harley Davidson Street Glide Special gets a price tag of Rs 33.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).
