Whenever I read DRT, my mind automatically translates it to 'DIRT' riding and until a few years ago, Harley-Davidson and dirt riding in a single sentence would seem utterly strange?

We had ridden the X440 on its first ride in Rajasthan but a real-world test is what gives a better perspective and stands as a testament to its overall value for money. So, we did a 2,500km ride across Mumbai and Gujarat on the Harley-Davidson X440.

We say that because not only is the Harley-Davidson X440 well-priced, it is an impressive motorcycle on the road too. Here's our take on the bike after spending a couple of hours riding it at Hero’s R&D centre in Jaipur.

The Sportster brand from Harley-Davidson is possibly one of the strongest names and the most renowned name in the Indian premium motorcycle fraternity. And that’s because the brand sold quite a few in the country in the old avatars.

Harley-Davidson Sportster range was known for its character, a styling that made many buyers feel proud. But most importantly, it was the air-cooled motor that offered tonnes of torque throughout and a sound that was so unique to the motorcycle. However, things changed when HD decided to discontinue the air-cooled Sportster last year. The Sportster left a gap, which was eventually filled by the new Nightster a few months later. Not to mention, this motorcycle brand, too, was revived after the American brand discontinued the XL1200N Nightster a few years ago.

We got a chance to ride the 2022 Pan America. For 2022, the American brand has given it a new vibrant blue paint scheme and some software and minor feature upgrades. And yes, I could ride this model only off-road as the Pan America was part of only off-road experience.

The Harley-Davidson X440 is now available with special festive offers with immediate effect. Firstly, the bike can be bought with ‘festive benefits’ worth Rs 23,000.

Hero MotoCorp has introduced a range of new colours on the Harley-Davidson X440. These new colours have been launched in two variants.

Harley-Davidson is expected to launch new colour options for the X440 tomorrow, 21 August, as per one of its recent social media posts.

The last week was a bit bleak in terms of new two-wheeler launches. However, a few other updates like the big discount on the Harley-Davidson X440 and Suzuki announcing a massive recall made the week interesting.

Harley-Davidson’s most affordable motorcycle – the X440 has received a good discount. The mid-spec variant – Vivid has gotten Rs 15,000 cheaper.
