My bike is about 5 years old now, this look feels old but overall i am still happy with it. Although market is now full of much superior bikes this one still works like a charm and i love it.The bike being a tourer is very comfortable, i had once a around 350 km ride spanning 2 days and i was absolutely cool after the trip. Cant say the same abut my friends though. The bike has never given me any issue till now(always service before time). Biggest con is the cost of parts, hero considers this bike to be a premium bike and charges for the servicing accordingly. For example front and rear break pads for 2000rs. Is insane. Other brands provide the same for less than half the amount.

The karizma zmr bike is an old-model bike that was released in the year 2008. It has great performance, with the 223cc engine providing a powerful 15.6 bhp. The bike also has a good fuel economy, giving around 30-35 kmpl. It is a good option for long rides and touring, with comfortable seating and adequate storage space. It has reliable braking, with 300 mm front disc brakes and 230 mm rear disc brakes making it easy to handle. The bike is still in production, though some new updated models have been released since its inception.

I bought my bike in feb of 2013. There were not many pieces available and i think that it was the last piece in stock, because after buying my bike i haven't seen a zmr in any of the retail outlet near by me. Buying experience was good dealer behavior was good and i got the bike with in a week after all finance formalities. I am using my zmr (passion red) for past 6 years done all timely service. To be honest this is an amazing bike. Apart from this bike r15 and cbr 250 was in my list but i selected this bike because of the mileage. Performance: you want power? you have it. You want speed? you have it. You want smoothness? you have it and you want mileage? you have it a lot. Its fun riding this bike. I love it. Looks depend on each person, anyway i like it than the new zmr(2016). I am getting around 47 kmpl for daily commute (city traffic + vacant roads) and 52 kmpl!!! for long rides. Its fantastic for a 223 cc bike. Long rides are smooth and painless.Cons: little vibrations and sound from the body plastics. Service cost is around 500 to 2500 for each service.

Zmr not above all

1. Customer service and after sale service is very good and they will call you up for service at timely intervals.
2. I don't know how and why hero engineers come up with such terrible designs and idea about their bikes, tough they tend to stick to make bikes to meet needs of customers on daily basis. Riding a zmr is always comfortable comfortable seats, comfortable riding position and the best part was 44kmph of mileage for a 225 cc bike, smooth at tow rpm and cranky at high rpm, bad headlamps and the big is heavy and small tyre radius.
3. Looks terrible, performance bad if you categorise it in the 200 segment, good if you categorise in the normal commuting segment. Good mileage as i earlier mentioned 44kmph in city and comfortable ride too. Headlamps are terrible very less visibility have complained about this quite a time. But you can always expect smooth ride but cranky at higher rpm.
4. Servicing is good, parts price is little high and zmr does have a problem with the oil pump but good thing is parts are available, the bike being heavy have good balance. Maintenance is ok not too high not too low.
Pros.
Good mileage
Good balance
Comfortable ride
Comfortable seating position
Cons.
Terrible design
Skinny tyres with respect to the size of the bike
Cranky at higher rpm
Stock mirrors are horrible

I loved this bike until its chassis broke into two while i was on my way to work. I'm glad i didn't die in the accident. Had to spend almost 20k in repairs. Heard that some others too had similar experiences(even rider dead in chassis broke-accidents). Performance wise, its good. Gives good mileage of around 45 in long rides. Doesn't need much regular services.

Performance wise it is very good. It has been well maintained till date. Got it serviced through authorized service provider only. All parts are genuine.
There are scratches on the fiber body. That is the reason for low pricing. Although, if one is willing to invest money in it, then it will be as good as new.

Hero as a hero

Hero motors has unveiled a new sharper, more busy-looking karizma and zmr models. A completely redesigned front fairing features twin stacked headlamps that are nestled between the integrated turn indicators. The indicators are also surrounded by led daytime running lamps. The karizma r 2014 has undergone a rather thorough cosmetic overhaul. The fairing on the karizma is basically a low key version of the new zmr fairing. Other changes to the fairing include mounted orvms, “r premium sports” decals and a twin headlamp arrangement. Similarities with previous versions include- the suspension and wheels, fuel tank and a drum brake in the rear. Through the styling too, emphasis is on the raw power of the bike. The rear end of the motorcycle has also received a much-needed visual weight reduction with a new split seat design and tapering tail section. The brake light and rear turn indicators are now housed in a neat floating tail section that also houses the number plate. The bike now features a set of fixed clip on style bars similar to the outgoing zmr model and both bikes will ride on wider tyres than the older model.

Zmr-sports tourer
Akhil
I have been riding this bike since 2010. Always has been a fan of karizma, because of its super smooth engine and ride quality. Its not an imposer on the road, making loud grunts and dramatic agility, but a smooth comfortable rider. I'm a tourer than a stunter or a racer. So i would prefer these qualities ahead of everything. But the karizma r have had some serious issues with its carburrator like cold start, poor idle, poor fuel efficiency, and even stalls. So even though i loved this bike i decided to wait for the fuel injected model to arrive. I thought it would be just an optional higher model. But when it was launched, it was a redesigned bike.
Style
i'm not entireley a fan of its design but chose it for reasons under its appearance. The over all styling is good but a bit too over done on the fromt fairing part. It looks rediculous to some in pictures, but in real it is a head turner. In flesh zmr is a much better looking bike. It is imposing and handsome. The rear looks good and the led lights, meter console, head lights are well designed. The fairing is quite tough despite its plasticy looks. I had 1 collision and 1 fall in 3 years, didnt break the fairing.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox
this bike is not built to be an outright performance bike. But dont mistake me, its right up there with the likes of 220 and r15. Because of its oversquared engine design it produces lot of torque in the more usable range 3000-6000 rpm and so comfortable for touring and cities alike. The gear changes are rarely required. But due to same reason it is not very rev happy in nature. I still believe in a drag the 220 will get the better of zmr but not without breaking some sweat. I did a top speed of 127 kmph several times on my bike. It easily touches 120kmph , best when shifted at 7200 rpm at all lower gears and then levels out at 127.
Fuel efficiency is a highlight of the bike. The fi is superbly well mapped by honda. It returned me 43-46 kmpl regularly even after 3 years for my usual riding at 80kmpl mark shifting at 4500-5000 rpm. But it is crucial to do running-in of the motorcycle in the first 1200 km. Keep speeds under 65kmph and under 4000rpm. For this period. Because i know people owning zmr who gets 32-36 kmpl and top speed of 110kmph who revved it from word go. Gear box is a touch notchy at low speeds but as speed picks up gets smooth.
Ride quality & handling
zmr is one of the best riding motorcycle in india right now. The ride quality is so plush, that i hardly miss my car to go to work. I have done 600 km per day on my touring days comfortably. The erect riding posture with great clipon handle bars gives us the perfect cruiser feel to the ride.
Handling is a bit on the week side at speeds. Its not the kind of bike u can throw into corners and rub your knees on the tarmac. Its full fairing puts a lot of wight on the front side making it tought to get out of corners at speed. U need to really lean and shift weight to get it turned above 100kmph. Also not very easy to park in tight spots. Its easier to reverse into small parking lots than to get in the front side.
Final words
great cruiser/tourer with ample power and torque, still have enough fun with it in perfo mode, best ride quality, butter smooth engine, fuel efficent, tough built quality, reasonable price, awesome fi, great brakes, useful digital clocks, ever reliable, not well handled at speed, and tough to park, poor service experience of hero.
Areas of improvement
front fairing design, access to spark plugs, headlight poor, use 60/55w, no practical use for real time milage indicator, make it average milage indicator which resets on reseting trip.
Pros
ride quality, fuel efficiency , reliability, build quality, low end torque
cons
fulll fairing, handlind at speed

Power speed mileage smoothness style

Chassis broke while riding-alive-repaired-still riding-love it.

Subash Nial

The karizma zmr bike is an old-model bike that was released in the year 2008. It has great performance, with the 223cc engine providing a powerful 15.6 bhp. The bike also has a good fuel economy, giving around 30-35 kmpl. It is a good option for long rides and touring, with comfortable seating and adequate storage space. It has reliable braking, with 300 mm front disc brakes and 230 mm rear disc brakes making it easy to handle. The bike is still in production, though some new updated models have been released since its inception.
