Economy bike with classic royal look, mileage rocks, and pickup is amazing, i recommend this as the best 100 cc bike, it has a normal suspension, as we go on using it suspension becomes smoother, 4 gear 100 cc engine gives you a classy feel with no more fluctuations in speed, and even we can use it as a dirt bike, i feel very comfortable using it, it has no fuel meter but the mileage is amazing so we need not worry about mileage as it contains fuel reserve.

Very good mileage bike .Low maintenance bike. Look is not very good but its okay. For the price it is the best bike. Steel mudguard are awesome. But the height and length of the bike is not good. If there was a visor or windshield on it then it would look better. My riding experience on this bike is good but it is not very comfortable for long ride. But don't know why people does not like the bike ...Actually it is a very good bike to ride in traffic. I am very happy with my bike.

  • The no-nonsense bike

    Roshan Remani Saseendran

Hello friends, i purchased my hero honda cd-dawn on january 6 , 2010 from cheran hero based in thiruvananthapuram, kerala. I booked my bike for a fee of rs. 5000. And it took almost twenty four days to receive my bike. I was actually planning to buy passion plus, but my mother refused to buy for me because of a minor financial problem. It was my friend who suggested this bike to my mother. Initially, i was not happy about it , because cd-dawn is smaller in size and shorter in height compared to all other bikes. I myself is 5 feet 7 inches tall. Initially, when i started my bike and departed from the showroom, i did not find its seating position to suit me. I could not freely stretch my legs, as i was scared of my right foot depressing the rear brake pedal. But the ride and handling are very good and it is a no nonsense bike for the on-road price of rs 40000. Even though it is a short bike for me, it is a pretty decent city commuting bike. It is so nimble and lightweight at 107 kilograms. It is easy to traverse through city traffic and it is compact and easy to handle too. If taken proper care of, this bike will last for so many years. My bike is almost eight and a half years old and i have clocked 33000 kilometres so far. The only problem is this bike is not so good for long journeys. I am able to travel upto 80 kilometres long journeys ( to and fro ). But i have felt neck pain, foot joint pain, hand joint pain and also i have felt pain in my left foot joint not enabling me to shift the gear pedal. But, in the city, i am really very comfortable with this bike. This bike gives a fuel efficiency of 65 kilometres per litre. You can ride this bike comfortably at speeds upto 50 kilometres per hour, this is the sweet spot for this bike. If you take the bike beyond 50, it gets strained and it refuses to go forward fast. So far, i have never had any major issues with this bike. So far, i have replaced batteries three times. The first battery which was originally fitted in my bike was amco. It reached the end of its life after almost two years ( one year and ten months ). My second battery was an exide and it lasted for more than five and a half years. Now, i have my third battery which is also an exide maintenance free battery which is almost eight months old. Then i have replaced my clutch cable once and my speedometer cable thrice. I have not replaced my tires till today. It is still good. Other than these issues, i have never experienced any other issues. This bike does not score much in the looks department. It has a basic design nothing eye catching. It is a simple basic design. Then there is no fuel meter gauge. As a result, i have to reach the reserve point of the bike to know the condition and level of fuel. Servicing by dealer is a not so great affair. But if you know any good local road side mechanic, he will take care of good service for you. Maintenance is reasonable. Parts are not so expensive and being a hero product with a good number of service networks all over India, maintaining this bike is not at all a problem. This bike is best suited for city commuting as this bike's engine construction is not suited for long rides. Any ride for more than 50 kilometres distance will take a toll on your body. This is strictly for city use. Easy to handle through heavy traffics. Light and nimble. Good shock absorbers which does decent job on city roads. Great mileage. This bike is not suited for anybody above 5 feet 7 inches. This bike should be gently used with utmost care. Not good for long rides.

I use the bike for daily commute.. And it has never given me any sort of trouble.. As i am a bit oversized the seating is not quite comfortable when i ride for longer time.. Mileage is great.. You can adjust the handle bars according to the height you want which has increased the comfort while riding.. Overall it is a great bike with minimum maintenance

  • A good commuter

    Raj Thakkar

I owned hero hf dawn in the year 2014. And i have ridden this bike more than 38,000 km till today. So, i will try my best to give the detailed review of this bike.

    So, here we go.!

    1 - buying experience

It is quite ok. I live in small town. So, from the local dealer, i purchased the dawn

So, you can't expect too much. Yet, it was quite descent.

    2- riding

I am riding this bike from last almost 4 years. So, i can say that as a commuter it performs very well.

You can go through city traffic very easily. It's seating position is so good that you just love to ride in city. Traffic will not be an issue for you.

On highway, you can cruise at the speed of 60 km/h. But when you rev it hard and go beyond 80 km/h, then it starts vibrating. And make you feel that you are pushing it hard. But, it is quite ok, because, you can't expect too much from a 97 cc engine.

    3. Looks and performance :

Looks : looks is not too good. You'll get only necessary parts required to cover the chassis.

It's a entry level commuter, so , i think hero has done this for cost cutting.

You'll get very basic meter console, and the switches etc.

Performance : and the matter of performance, it is very good in commuting. You can reach at 60 km/h easily. Gear shifting is quite good. Suspension is not too soft, but ok for the city riding. It's not as good as the nitrox one.

To check the real performance, even i rode it almost a 300 km a day. So, on highway, same cruise at 60 km/h no problem. But you have to let it cool down for at least 15-20 min after every 80-90 km of continuous riding. Otherwise, the riding comfort was too good, even after riding 300 km in a day.

Clutch : clutch is soft. No issue of clutch wire break, or anything even after 4 years.

Brakes : you'll get drum brake at both the ends, and it's quite decent to stop this bike.

Tires : it gets dunlop easy cruiser 2.75 section 18" tires both the ends. It is too good. Performance of this tires are very nice, even after 38,000 km of riding, i have not replaced, although it works well, till now.

Maintenance : it doesn't require too much care. You have to go for servicing once in a six months/6k - 6.5k km. And it costs less than a thousand rupees.

Mileage : if you ride it well, maintain it well, go for services at a regular intervals, then you'll get the mileage of around 65 km/l in city and more than 70-72 km/l on highway.

    Pricing : 38,000 to 43,000 inr (ex-showroom)

    5. Pros and cons

So, let me give you the final overview of my review by giving pros and cons of this bike :

    Pros :

    - ride quality

    - riding comfort

    - mileage

    - build quality

    Cons :

    - very basic styling

    - basic meter console (no fuel indicator)

    - no self-start

So, this was my review about hero hf dawn.

Finally, if a looks doesn't matter and you just need a very good commuter in a tighter budget, you should go for it.

    - no self-start
