Honda CBR650R Summary

Successor to the CBR650F sold earlier in the country, the CBR650R is the latest offering from Honda in the middle-weight segment. The new model features an aggressive design language taking cues from the flagship Fireblade model. The single-piece headlamp unit has been replaced by a twin full LED headlamp unit. Besides that, the motorcycle also gets an all-digital LED instrument cluster featuring a gear position indicator and a Sift Up indicator.

The new CBR650R is powered by the same 648.72cc inline-four that now produces slightly more power and stands at 86bhp at 11,500rpm and 60.1Nm at 8,000rpm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox that is assisted by a slipper clutch.

Feature-wise, the motorcycle comes with dual-channel ABS and also features Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). For cycle parts, the motorcycle is suspended by Showa inverted forks up front and a Pro-Link type monoshock at the rear. Braking is done by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.

Honda offers the CBR650R in two colour options – Grand Prix Red and Gunpowder Black Metallic.

Honda CBR 650R [2018-2019] Review

  • Good Things

    • Gets a refined 649cc motor
    • Loaded with decent electronics
  • Could be Better

    • Too pricey
    • Limited service network

BikeWale's Take

The Honda CBR650R is a more aggressive and powerful replacement of the CBR650F. The bike also continues to be a sports tourer with a refined 649cc engine although with better suspension and electronics. Nevertheless, the CBR650R is an expensive proposition and could do better with a wider service network.

      Beauty & also a beast for a inline-4 newbie

      Supreet Khanna

Got the 1st cbr 650r of north India on 3rd may 2019 from chandigarh I had a great experience because i was the very first one to receive the bike luckily. This is the best vehicle one can ride being a newbie for a 500+ cc segment and also for the inline 4 cylinder segment. I wanted a fully faired bike because of my previous yet good bike(r15 v1) which could deliver not so aggressive but power-packed performance in daily commutes & long rides as well. And this bike had the exact sports tourer features which fulfilled my requirements. The bike is smooth af. No vibrations on low-high rpms. About looks - will just say she's an eye candy *mic drop*Performance-wise she might disappoint some kawa lovers because the bike ain't that beastly aggressive But the power I've experienced is great, linear and controlled especially for a noobie Service & maintenance is super convenient. Got 1st, 2nd service @3200 & @2500 bucks respectively. I hope you can calculate the pros & cons of this. Thanks.

      a great bike

      Gurinder Singh

I had this bike for a couple of month. It was my brother's bike. The bike is punchy and refined at the same time. It looks sporty and has a committed riding position. Good for a short-medium ride. Will not recommend for touring. It's a monster on the track...The 4 cylinder engine feels buttery smooth on the track.

      Most reasonable maintenance for a 650cc super-bike

      Vibin

Look wise it is an atom bomb.It has a linear power delivery &won't scare ,but it gives a very much enjoyable ride .This bike is comfortable at the time sporty too.The mileage is pretty much decent for bike of this type. The on road price of this bike is not too high comparatively with other super bikes even though it is a 650cc 4 cylinder bike .Overall it had given me a nice ride.
