Honda has unveiled its new middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle, the XL750 Transalp.
This new model from the Japanese manufacturer is powered by a 755cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank. This motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox and it produces a maximum output of 90bhp at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 75Nm at 7,250rpm. The company will also offer an A2 variant of the Transalp in the European market with a maximum output of 47bhp.
The electronic rider aids on the motorcycle comprise ride-by-wire throttle and five riding modes that affect the engine power, engine braking, and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) or traction control system with integrated wheelie control. There are four levels of engine power (EP), three levels of engine brake (EB), two levels of ABS, and five levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) available. The HSTC and rear ABS can also be switched off.
The XL750 Transalp is built around a lightweight steel diamond frame and it uses Showa-sourced 43mm SFF-CATM upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. This off-road-biased motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. There are two tyre options – Metzeler Karoo Street and Dunlop Mixtour. Meanwhile, the anchoring setup on this adventure tourer comprises twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back.
The feature list includes full-LED lighting and a five-inch TFT colour display with support for Android and iOS devices via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. The motorcycle also gets auto-cancel indicators and Emergency Stop Signal technology to warn other road users of sudden braking.
The styling cues comprise a single-pod headlight, semi-fairing, a tall windscreen, a single-piece saddle, and a side-slung exhaust. Internationally, the XL750 Transalp will be available in three colours – Matte Iridium Gray Metallic, Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, and a modern interpretation of the Ross White Tricolour.
The Indian launch details of the new XL750 Transalp are not available yet. We may see it arrive in our market in mid to late 2023 with an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 13 lakh.
