India Kawasaki Motors has announced the launch of the 2023 Z900RS neo-retro in our market. This motorcycle is based on the same platform as the Z900 roadster. However, it features a completely different design than the roadster model.
The styling cues on the Z900RS follow an old-school design that includes a round headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a sleek tail, and a ribbed pattern for the seat cover. It uses multi-spoke alloy wheels that feature a chrome finish along with a chrome exhaust. Kawasaki has introduced two colours for the Z900RS in India – Metallic Diablo Black/Metallic Imperial Red and Candy Tone Blue. The feature list comprises full-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, Kawasaki Traction Control, and an assist and slipper clutch mechanism.
The mechanical specifications of the 2023 Kawasaki Z900RS include the same engine as the Z900 roadster. Thus, the Z900RS comes equipped with a 948cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 107bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 95Nm at 6,500rpm.
The hardware on this neo-retro motorcycle includes 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends, 41mm inverted front forks, and a rear monoshock. The anchoring tasks are handled by 300mm dual discs at the front and a 250mm single rotor at the back.
While the 2023 Kawasaki Z900RS does not have a direct rival, it faces some competition from the likes of the Triumph Bonneville T100 and Speed Twin.
