1.Buying experience was ok. 2.Riding this new bike from KTM family, it doesn't give true KTM feel but it's very smooth and comfortable. 3.Lookwise it's same as 1st Gen Duke 200. While talking about performance it's really a bad combination of hardware and powertrain, because it's hardware's are top notch, for this top notch hardware's this is not the engine. It won't give scary acceleration like other Ktm bikes bikes, it's missing most crazy true KTM nature. Bike feel nimbler till 6000rpm and afterwards we feel power but again disappointment in the way rpm limiter, it will reach 10500rpm too early. I'm not complaining about engine, for it's 125CC capacity is performance is outstanding. It's not a good combination of hardware and engine (at least it should be 135 or 150cc). 4.Servicing cost of this bike is normal like Duke 200 about 4000rs per service of 5000kms or 7500kms if you go for check up at 5000kms. Chain maintenance is more, ktm recommended to clean and lubricate chain at every 500kms. 5.Pro: a)good mileage city 40,highway 47,calm ride at 5500rpm upto 54, b)Good hardware set up c)clear and bright halogen headlight d) very refined and butter smooth engine e) smooth shocks comparatively pre gen ktms f)Good looking g)we can rev the engine at high rpm for joy with safe speed(low top speed about 120km/hr.h)Abs(single channel) and RLP(rear wheel lift off protection). i) Good riding position: bit relaxing manner.j)no heating problem even if you revs hard. Cons: a)feel lack in power b)very low torque below 6000rpm c)no led headlight d)bit a high cost(about 1.78on road on 22/06/2020).e) buy only for good mileage and daily commute don't search scary acceleration: true KTM character in this bike f) pillion seat not comfortable.

Tips for KTM 125 Duke [2021]

Regularly clean and lubricate the chain.take a look of engine oil regularly.Ride safely with helmet and safety gears and revvs hard for fun....

Buying experience after buying this bike is that I regret it because at this price I could have bought a better bike like MT or V3 or NS 200 or RS 200 what ever 125 Duke or RC, they should lower the price then only the 125cc ktm will sell a lot. If not the duke or RC125 wont be selling much because people will go for MT 15 or other bikes.

Low cc with high price. Duke and RC125 should lower the price for 200 and above. It's okay but for 125 cc its too much and also doesn't give the satisfaction.

  • The Baby duke- experience

    Vaibhav Gupta

The journey started when i saw an ad on Bikewale stating, 95% financing available on duke 125. I visited the PR Motors, and enquired about the bike and scheme. I had a test drive for duke 125 as well as duke 200. I finalized the duke 125 because of lesser power but great braking and handling proportionately with respect to the latter. Also, for city traffic conditions, duke 125 was more than sufficient.
Bought the bike same day 13 Oct 2019 and took it home. There was a huge problem with the registration because of dealer's response. It took 2 months to get RTO registration done that too when i was asked to buy a registration number to speed up the process. I was fed up by then and bought one fancy number. Anyways, I got my bike registered and then a wait for high security number plate started.
Two weeks later, this baby duke hit the road officially and went for a 520 km ride to Ghaziabad from Lucknow. Met with an accident in Ghaziabad due to a speedbraker, (this went 50-0 kmph in seconds but an uncle enjoying tailgating couldn't control his splendor while riding Hero splendor) and crashed. Thankfully, several body parts of duke 125 broke but mine were intact and credit goes to designers who gave that thought to have softer parts which shall break with a sudden impact to save the bones of rider.
Next day, I visited service center in Noida to get it repaired and ready for return journey to Lucknow. Parts were readily available, got it repaired and started my return journey. After 100 kms on Yamuna expressway, rear tyre damaged got puncture with a bolt which forced me to take an exit, ending getting a tube inserted for rest of the journey. Since it doesn't have provision for double stand, extracting rear tyre is a task in itself. However, I resumed my journey and had a mileage of around 55 km/l in that trip while cruising at 70-80 km/h.
I use this bike for everyday life and weekend rides. It's fun to ride, great handling and balance. Great mileage on highways but 32-34 km/l in city. Engine oil has to be changed every 5,000 km and chain lube is required for every 500 km ride. It's upside strand for riding position is great for fun commute.
Pure engineering, reliable parts and a product of design excellence. Hugely overpriced in it's segment and underpowered when compared to bikes in similar price group. Overall, a good companion for college students, weekend travellers and explorers.

Your life is precious and this bike is an engineering marvel whether it's the body parts, power to brake ratio, handling, suspension or aerodynamics. Don't consider it if you're looking for just power primarily.

Bad engine quality, does not last for years. Particularly it can't withstand for small accidents and the chassis quality is so weak that it can't be used on worst terrains, and the roads with pot wholes. It's engine also will not last more than 40000 km. Initially one can enjoy it's ride, slowly one can understand it's inferior quality.

Ktm is amazing company, they made some superb machines, I personally own a duke 125 and I am a fresher. The way showroom owner guided me is just amazing. Riding experience as a fresher rider I will say it's a perfect beginners bike. There are many more powerful machine but as a regular college student and weekly tourer this bike is a soul mate. As for servicing are pocket-friendly than royal enfield sure and very competitive to other rivals in this price range but require regular maintenance.

  • Low quality bike

    Ravi

  • Over priced bike

    Kokz

Buying experience after buying this bike is that I regret it because at this price I could have bought a better bike like MT or V3 or NS 200 or RS 200 what ever 125 Duke or RC, they should lower the price then only the 125cc ktm will sell a lot. If not the duke or RC125 wont be selling much because people will go for MT 15 or other bikes.
