First of all let me start off by saying that i give a big thumbs up to ktm for giving the ktm 390 duke a lot of potential and deserving upgrades. Be it the technical upgrades or mechanical. They've done a pretty good job with that.
I've ridden the 2016 version and the 2017 version too. The first difference that you'll notice is that the power delivery is a lot smoother and its linearity has also increased up a notch from the previous version. The throttle isn't as jerky as the previous version so you won't have any surprises on that issue.
The brakes have pretty good stopping power at both the front and the rear end of the bike. And with the slipper clutch you won't have to worry about your rear wheel locking up during a hard downshift. The abs kicks in quickly so you might feel that to be a little interfering.
The new suspension does a good job at handling bumps and potholes pretty well. I felt that it was a little soft at the rear end so be careful in corners until you're well affirmed with the bike.
Speaking about the tyres, they have a lower rating than the previous tyres but provide better durability. And if you're uncomfortable with them, you can always change them and get the metzeler m7's which are just extraordinary.
The handling of the bike is buttery smooth. It can slice through traffic like a hot knife through butter.
The looks are obviously very appealing and they have this captivating charm to them. The instrument cluster is well, amazing. It has everything you need to know about the bike.
Overall i'd say that this is a great starter bike for beginner riders. But be careful with the throttle. The bike is very, and i mean very torquey. If you're buying this bike for your daily commute, go for it. It's beautiful. But if you're looking to do a lot of touring and adventure. You might want to look at other options because you're going to feel that wind blast like crazy when you're doing around 120/110 kmph. I haven't done a long ride but i think it'll be comfortable.
Great job ktm.

A Beast waiting to be Unleashed!!

After having gone through almost every >200cc bike, starting from Jawa 42 2.1, Interceptor, Continental GT even Gixxer 250, KTM ADV 390, i fell head over heels for DUKE 390. Saw and read great reviews about it, saw the negative points too but kinda peace with them. The Pros are better n bigger than Cons!! Got this Wonderful Beast on 21st August after waiting for almost 2-3 months but the wait was worth it when I saw it in front of my eyes! The dealership here in Lucknow was a bit adamant and I found them stiff and uptight, but anyway, the deal was sealed. They fussed even for giving the stock helmet! The bike on the initial 2 days of its existence gave an average of 11-12kmpl, and then it increased to 23-24kmpl in the 1st week. I guess it's getting used to the rider ;P Jokes apart, the engine would take a little time to get refined which would later give a better mileage later on. And it sure as hell is a Head-turner! Be it traffic lights, be it, society people, be it, children, all eyes get glued on this handsome Beast!

This bike is definitely for people who have a decent bit of experience in riding bikes, as this beast needs to be tamed with care and caution. The throttle response is such that even my father said that 40-45km/h speed seems a lot on this. Trust me, my father has driven a lot of cars, and rode bikes n scooters. Such was his observation that even I had to agree with him. Drive safe, and take care! :)

First of all, it's top-notch in its segment. If you want power, performance, and looks then you shouldn't think twice before purchasing. If you love riding long distances, go on rides then this is it if you have a budget within 4lakh. This bike has more features than any 500 - 600 cc bike on the market. It can easily outperform any bike in its segment. For me, I use this bike mainly for traveling long distances/ trips. I don't use it for the daily commute or in the city. Once you get a habit of this bike, there's no going back. You won't feel confident in other bikes because their electrical system, performance, braking, and riding modes are more advanced than the one's in 5 - 6 lakh range. The servicing would cost around rs 2k to 3k every 7500kms. But I service it in every 6k kms. Pros1. Great performance & control.2. Nice tft instrument cluster3. Good looks.Cons1. Feels overpowered for city use.2. Gets heated in city use.

KTM will rocket through your pocket and introduce you to the worst customer service in India.

1) Buying experience was terrible, they changed my address and registered my bike in another RTO.2) KTM service stations are the worse when it comes to good mechanics. General service is terrible. Please check your local KTM service station's Google reviews and study their comments. That should give you an idea of things before you buy the bike. They forgot to put the spark plug properly, didn't clean or lube the chain and there was soap water in my tank. 3) Had bad issues in getting my Warranty and Extended warranty claims. They try everything in the book to reject your claim. 4) Parts used are definitely cheap, had to change the head and the Arm within 18k kms, and the headlight clamp broke within 10k kms and that's worth a lot, their warranty team and service center team acted very unprofessionally5) Its a fast bike, but it has maintenance issues and parts break off within 5k kms. Stock crash guard bolt cut off, so had to use all sorts of juggad to handle that.6) TFT screen is not impressive, with lots of moisture and flickers, if you ask the service center they say it's normal. 7) No proper mechanism for customers to escalate issues, you'll meet very unprofessional service center managers who are not interested in solving the issue. They don't have a centralized call center number like other brands nor will you be able to escalate without running pillar to post.8) Biggest gripe is that the bike has a lot of expensive parts and their warranty team will find ways to reject the warranty which impacts the customer's pockets and the experience.

Double-check your bike before taking a delivery or before dropping the bike at the service station. Once the warranty is over, find yourself a good, reputed mechanic and your bike may have a better life Their headlights and crash guards are notorious to break, so constantly check on them and get them replaced quickly. Be aware of the service center managers and make sure you provide reviews based on your experience on their app and in Google reviews so other riders don't get caught in the nightmare.

1. It's always been my dream machine since I first saw it in 2017. It's an eye-catchy machine where ever I go everyone turned around and starts looking at the bike. 2. Riding experience is awesome. As many say it's a pocket rocket it's really a sexy machine and a wonderful beast. 3. Looks are fabulous I personally love them very much. Performance-wise it's a brutal machine it can take you to 3-digit speeds within seconds. 4. Servicing and maintenance are pretty much good not that great. The service center takes so much time to deliver the vehicle once it's taken from the customer. 5. Pros:- value for money, the absolute beast you won't feel under powdered, sometimes it scares the shit out of you. Cons:- a little bit highly-priced but justify the price, the bs6 has a quick shifter but it doesn't function properly, the brakes are also not that great and punchy, the spares are also a bit over priced and it takes a long time to deliver, the bike heats up pretty quickly. Fun to rider machine you won't regret yourself for buying it. I have owned it for almost 9 months the mileage I was getting is 20 to 23 for both city and highway riding.

An eye catchy machine

Tbh..I bought this bike accidentally...but I am very happy with the purchase. This bike is perfect in every aspect. At this price point, I don't think you'll find another bike that is so awesome. Its engine is very smooth and it's the best part of this bike. You can easily cruise on around 100 highways.

Duke 390 is good for touring and hyper riding. Best mileage. But a little bit expensive from tyre costs metzelers tyre life only 8000 to 10000 . The brake is also very progressive. The seat height is a little high. The overall bike is good value for money Good mileage from 373 cc motar.Acceleration is like a rocket.Heats a lot.

A Beast waiting to be Unleashed!!
Ankit Anand

Tips for other riders
This bike is definitely for people who have a decent bit of experience in riding bikes, as this beast needs to be tamed with care and caution. The throttle response is such that even my father said that 40-45km/h speed seems a lot on this. Trust me, my father has driven a lot of cars, and rode bikes n scooters. Such was his observation that even I had to agree with him. Drive safe, and take care! :)

Best in its segment. Pocket rocket
Tushar Kant Singh

Tips for other riders
This bike is a beast, use its power wisely. Don't go too aggressive. To keep the engine healthy change oil every 6k kms if you are not riding aggressively but if your riding style is aggressive then change the oil every 5k kms. And always keep track of coolant else it would affect the engine a lot. Don't be careless in maintenance.
