KTM is all set to make its small-size motorcycle line-up more interesting by introducing the new 390 SMC R production model. This will join the next-generation 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Enduro R with all these bikes sharing the same core platform but with some differences in their cycle parts and styling.
The 390 SMC R has been spied testing on multiple occasions and some details about the bike have also been leaked. It will boast the same bodywork as the 390 Enduro R with minimalistic body panels, a front beak, flat motocross-style seat and a long tail. However, typical of this genre, it will ride on a pair of 17-inch alloy wheels, certainly with road-biased tyres. The leaked brochure also mentions that it will have shorter suspension travel in relation to its other 390 siblings.
While the rest of the details about the 390 SMC R are under wraps, we expect it to be powered by the same engine as the latest 390 Duke. This 398.63cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill produces 45.3bhp and 39Nm. Now, whether KTM changes the tuning of this motor to suit the purpose of the 390 SMC R remains to be seen.
