1. Buying Experience
The buying experience for the KTM Duke 390 generally involves visiting a KTM dealership where you can explore the bike, take a test ride, and discuss financing options. Dealers often provide a thorough explanation of the bike's features and benefits. The process is usually straightforward, with the possibility to customize your purchase with accessories or extended warranties. Some buyers may find the initial cost slightly higher compared to other bikes in the same category, but the Duke 390's premium features justify this.
2. Riding Experience
The KTM Duke 390 offers an exhilarating riding experience thanks to its responsive engine and agile handling. Its lightweight design makes it nimble in city traffic and fun on twisty roads. The bike’s suspension is tuned to provide a balance between comfort and sporty handling, making it suitable for both daily commutes and spirited rides. The Duke 390’s power delivery is smooth, and its quick acceleration makes it a thrill to ride.
3. Details About Looks and Performance
Looks: The KTM Duke 390 sports a distinctive and aggressive design with sharp lines and a muscular stance. It features a prominent, angular headlamp, a minimalist fuel tank, and a distinctive trellis frame. The bike’s vibrant color schemes, including orange and black, emphasize its sporty character.
Performance: The Duke 390 is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces around 44 horsepower and 37 Nm of torque. It offers impressive acceleration and a top speed of approximately 160 km/h. The bike is equipped with advanced features like ride-by-wire, a slipper clutch, and optional traction control, enhancing both performance and safety.
4. Servicing and Maintenance
Servicing and maintenance for the KTM Duke 390 are generally straightforward, though the bike’s advanced components may require specialized care. Regular servicing involves oil changes, air filter replacements, and checking the brakes and suspension. KTM's service network is well-established, but parts and labor can be relatively costly compared to other bikes. The recommended service intervals are usually every 6,000 km, but it's important to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for optimal performance and longevity.
5. Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Performance: Strong engine performance and quick acceleration.
- Handling: Excellent agility and handling in various riding conditions.
- Design: Sporty and modern aesthetics with high-quality build.
- Features: Advanced technology such as ride-by-wire, optional traction control, and a slipper clutch.
]Cons:
- Cost: Higher initial purchase price compared to some competitors.
- Comfort: The sporty riding position might be uncomfortable for long journeys.
- Maintenance Costs: Service and parts can be relatively expensive.
- Fuel Economy: While decent, it may not be as economical as some other bikes in its category.
Overall, the KTM Duke 390 is a standout in the sub-400cc motorcycle segment, offering a blend of performance, style, and advanced features, though it comes with considerations regarding cost and comfort.

Tips for KTM 390 Duke

1. Regular Oil Changes: Change the engine oil and filter every 5,000 km or as recommended by the manufacturer. Use high-quality oil suitable for the Duke 390. 2. Check Fluid Levels: Regularly inspect and top off coolant, brake fluid, and clutch fluid levels. 3. Monitor Tire Pressure: Check and maintain the correct tire pressure for optimal performance and safety. 4. Inspect Brakes: Regularly check brake pads and discs for wear and ensure the brake system is functioning correctly. 5. Chain Maintenance: Clean and lubricate the chain frequently. Check for proper tension and adjust as needed. 6. Air Filter: Inspect and clean the air filter regularly. Replace it if it's excessively dirty or damaged. 7. Battery Care: Check the battery charge and clean terminals to prevent corrosion. 8. Inspect Suspension: Regularly check the suspension for leaks and proper operation. Adjust as needed based on riding conditions. 9. Check Lights and Indicators: Ensure all lights and indicators are functioning properly for safe riding. 10. Follow Service Intervals: Adhere to the service schedule outlined in the owner's manual for comprehensive maintenance.

The best bike I have ever ridden is 390cc the Duke will be in the best place. There is nothing negative to say about my Duke. After purchasing Duke I had the best riding experience in my life. My Duke is giving the mileage of 21-25. I made a little bit of off-roading and then also it didn't get any issues. The best bike design is in the Duke.

    Rehan Jirait

    1. Buying experience was good it was a fast delivery within 2 days.
    2. I will say one word for my riding experience “Rocket”. It is so easy to get out of traffic.
    3. Looks are not to everyone’s taste but it looks awesome and of course, it’s KTM design.
    4. So far I have done 3 services with no issues yet.
    5. Pros are so many that I can’t express here but the cons are exhaust it’s too much low noise that even a person can’t tell whether it’s really a 3.8Lac bike. But its design says it’s a mid-expensive bike.
Overall my experience is really good with the Duke 390 Gen 3

  • From mean Machine of 2010 (P220) and Now Duke 390. No bike for almost 18 years and 390 made me a kid again.

If your top priority is handling, and agility on city roads and can afford a 22kmpl average then, definitely go for this machine. Long-distance rides won't be that comfortable but if you consider the speed and performance for those long distances then you won't be bored riding it even for 500km at a stretch.
Looks are something personal, I did not like it initially but slowly I am falling for it.
Did the first service, which cost me 2200 rupees with the oil change.
Pros- Trend setter machine. This machine will be like the pulsar of 2000's.
Cons- Different engine sound as it clocks an initial 1000 kms. I personally had two different sounds, loving the second sound as it reminds me of the turbo engine of the car.

Sure, the 200 Duke is the bike with which KTM made its impressive first impression in India. But it’s the 390 Duke that really established the orange brand as a maker of properly serious and quick high-performance motorcycles. It brought in a level of focus and explosiveness that had never been seen at this price point, so it’s not hard to see why it’s had such a lasting impact. The 2024 390 Duke that you see in these pictures is the most comprehensive update that the bike has received in its 10-year stint, and having ridden it on road and track, it’s hard to point out too many areas where KTM could have done better.
