Yamaha MT 15 Summary

Price: Yamaha MT 15 V2 price for its variant - MT 15 V2 Standard starts at Rs. 1,69,207. The price for the other variants - MT 15 V2 Deluxe and MT 15 V2 MotoGP Edition are Rs. 1,73,907 and Rs. 1,74,408. The mentioned MT 15 V2 prices are the average ex-showroom.

Yamaha MT 15 V2 is a street bike available in 3 variants and 8 colours. The Yamaha MT 15 V2 is powered by 155cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 18.1 bhp and a torque of 14.1 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Yamaha MT 15 V2 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This MT 15 V2 bike weighs 141 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 10 liters.

The 2024 Yamaha MT 15 Version 2.0 is the naked bike version of the revered R15 super sport motorcycle. It shares the same engine and frame, however, the overall gearing of the bike is shorter than the R15 for improved acceleration, albeit at the cost of top speed.

The MT 15 has a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA system that delivers a maximum output of 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.1Nm at 7,500rpm. It has a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch mechanism. The engine is known for its refinement, performance and good fuel economy.

The delta box frame of the MT 15 is suspended by a 37mm upside-down fork and monoshock. The braking setup comprises a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear rotor, while the safety net includes a dual-channel ABS and traction control system. Similar to the YZF-R15, the 17-inch alloy wheels on the MT 15 are wrapped in 100/80-section front and 140/70-section rear MRF tyres. The motorcycle features a 10-litre fuel tank and tips the weighing scale at 141kg (kerb).

Yamaha has kitted the bike with a variety of features and these include, LED lights, an LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

The Bluetooth module works with a dedicated smartphone application and offers access to features such as incoming call alerts, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level to the LCD console. Further, the smartphone application helps track fuel consumption, provides maintenance recommendations, saves the last parked location, and shows malfunction notifications.

The design of the Yamaha MT 15 has remained unchanged for some time but it still looks good, especially in the available colour options. There are eight colour options to choose from. These are - Cyan Storm DLX, Dark Metallic Blue, Metallic Black, Cyber Green DLX, Ice Fluo-Vermillion DLX, Racing Blue DLX, Metallic Black DLX and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team colours edition.

The Yamaha MT 15 rivals the likes of the KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0, and the Bajaj Pulsar N250 in the Indian market.

Yamaha MT 15 V2 Review

  • Good Things

    • 155cc engine offers excellent performance
    • Excels at handling in city and also on a racetrack
    • Overall fit and finish is quite good
  • Could be Better

    • Stiff rear suspension
    • Overall quality could have been better

BikeWale's Take

The MT 15 is fun to ride, looks unique and even offers impressive fuel efficiency. The bike looks quite good. Although the bike could do better with a well-cushioned seat, more pliant suspension along with better fit and finish.

MT 15 is a very good bike I bought it for 2.0 2 lakh from my nearest Yamaha shop. The comfort is a little bit weird and needs to be improved performance is top-notch the mileage will be decent for daily rides and the service cost is not too expensive but it is quite expensive.

MT 15 is worth buying. The reasons are:
Looks: Mt 15 is easily the best and most quirky-looking naked in India below 300cc category. The vermillion white color looks sensational. The rear of the bike also looks quite fabulous and reminds me of MT 07/09
Engine: Arguably the best engine below 200cc available in India. Fantastic NVH levels with adequate power coupled with lower weight make it a hoot to ride. The 6th gear makes it an effortless bike on highways. Also, it returns an impressive mileage of 40-50 km/l if ridden at a sedate pace.
Technology: It comes mated with a Slipper clutch, single-channel ABS, and VVA tech. The slipper clutch and VVA work flawlessly in this bike. Furthermore, the backlit instrument panel not only looks good but also shows an array of ‘useful’ features such as dynamic FC, average mileage, average speed, twin trip meter, gear indicator, LED projector lamp, and clock.

I bought MT 15 in April of 2024 and it's been 5 months I love this bike. As usual Yamaha engine is so refined and gives good performance too with 55 km of mileage per ltr and wherever I go the beast looks of the bike is attractive to people around with the excellent road presence. And also the breaking system comes with dual ABS and transaction control system making the bike very safe and safety and mileage are the main factors that I like and made to buy this Yahmaha MT-15

5000km ride review of a new rider

      Noel Biju

So the Yamaha MT 15 V2 is an amazing bike. Though the initial delivery experience and experience with the staff of the bike showroom is the lowest and the worst I have experienced as far as I can say. They were so rude and they did not follow the instructions that were provided at the time of booking the bike. We had to wait for 4 to 5 hours to take the delivery of the bike from the showroom and I have to say the customer service has to be improved a lot. Coming to the bike, starting with the performance I have to say it's amazing. Not that cruel for new riders yet it gives the adrenaline rush a youngster needs. And have to say the mileage of this bike is top notch clocking in around 53 to 56 kmpl. The best so far I have achieved is 58kmpl while riding at a constant and cruising speed. Apart from this the looks of the bike are good and being a small bike it is fairly easy to maneuver through bumper-to-bumper traffic and it has good low-end performance to ride through the traffic conditions. The gearing of this bike is hard in my opinion. The gears feel a little stiff.
The breaking on the other hand is impressive with dual channel abs and traction control along with dual disc breaks it has the power to stop the whole bike. Coming to the ride comfort of the bike I am very disappointed and it's not a bike for the Indian roads. The suspension being very stiff transfers the jerks and vibrations of medium to large size potholes and cracks on the road. On slow speeds, the suspension set-up is okay okay with minor to medium bumps and sometimes the larger bumps and potholes being bearable. The seat comfort is purely outdated. The seats are not at all cushioned and this makes it a daily commuting bike I have to say the Raider 125 feels better in my opinion compared to the ride quality and seat comfort of Mt 15. If you are to carry a pillion I would have to say to you to choose any other options in the market as it has little to no space for a pillion to sit properly and they too will have a poor ride quality. The pillion seat is very small and uncomfortable. If you are a person going for long rides then be ready to face severe back pain from its sporty posture. There are noticeable vibrations throughout the chassis and frame when you go beyond 70 kmph. Though it's fairly bearable the vibes creep in after 80 to 90kmph. I would highly recommend a luggage carrier with the seats to be modified if you are gonna buy this bike for the family commute. Overall I have to suggest you to test ride the bike before riding and make sure to drive different kinds of bikes before committing to buy a certain one. It is an amazing option for the youths and youngsters to take to college or office. The seat and the suspension setups are the major minus points of this bike and please make sure it's okay for you in the long run before purchasing this bike. The performance, fuel economy, dimensions, and weight of the bike are the plus points as they make the bike a considerable option to buy. Also, the lights are not that good but they aren't bad either so for nighttime riders, especially in the foggy areas I would say to buy a set of good aux lights for their commutes.

I recently purchased the Yamaha mt 15 and I'm absolutely in love with it. The performance is amazing and it handles incredibly well. The bike is incredibly light, So it's very easy to maneuver. It's surprisingly powerful, So I can easily overtake other bikes on the road, Even at relatively low speeds. The brakes are also very responsive, So I don't have to worry about braking too hard. The design of the bike is also great. It looks very sleek and stylish, And I get lots of compliments on it. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great performance bike.

Worst engine capacity. I over just 200 kms for the second service and the engine was got a problem. Worst customer service also. Only 5 months back I bought it. Just 200 kms also don't bear engines. They didn't give a full warranty for the engine also. And they charged money from us. They didn't give proper responses also

The buying experience was good as there was no waiting time, about riding quality it was sporty but not for longer rides. It looks awesome It is a college boy's bike in its performance it is best in the low-end and mid-range not much in the high end, servicing and maintenance are a bit costly but once it is serviced its runs smoothly
Pro- good eye-catching bike, fit and finish, full of torque and fun to ride in cities
Cons- after a few years it tends to lose its stance by having some issues with electronic or the engine, the seat is not padded well, costing is a bit high for a 155cc bike

The first thing I like about this bike is the looks and that is the reason I bought this bike, it looks better than any other bike under 200cc segment.
The second thing I like is the mileage 42-45km in a busy city like south Mumbai.
The third thing I like is the maneuvering ability, it’s comfortable to control the bike in traffic.
The fourth thing I like is the dual-channel abs braking system and traction control which assures great safety.
The fifth thing I enjoy is its performance, this thing is truly a pocket rocket!
Now let’s talk about the downsides.
The first thing I dislike is the build quality, it’s made out of thin and hollow plastic material which looks very fragile and could break easily. That is the reason it’s so lightweight and gives good mileage.
The second thing I dislike is the seat cushioning, it could’ve been thicker (no complaints about the pillion, it feels fun to sit behind and enjoy the wind kissing your face)
The third thing I dislike is that it’s OVERPRICED! Having a 155cc engine and low-quality build, the looks and mileage alone do not justify its pricing. It definitely should have been at least 10-15k lower.
But since it was my dream bike a year and a half ago and I was restricted by budget, I had to buy this unique beast.
Being a 5’11 talk rider, my preference if I had a higher budget would’ve been Royal Enfield Classic, Honda Cb350 or Duke 200.
