Yamaha RX 100 is expected to launch in India in January 2025 in the expected price range of ₹ 1,40,000 to ₹ 1,50,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to RX 100 are Keeway SR125, Keeway SR250 & Honda CB200X. Another bike similar to RX 100 is Hero 2.5R Xtunt which is launching in June 2025 in India.
The Yamaha RX 100’s popularity can be gauged by the fact that enthusiasts are still looking to buy a well-maintained used example even after more than a decade of its discontinuation. The main reasons for its cult following were its compact dimensions, nimble handling, and performance that was beyond exciting for those times. Now, to our joy and surprise, the motorcycle is expected to make a comeback in a modern avatar after several years.
Unlike the original RX100’s much-revered two-stroke carbureted 100cc motor, the contemporary iteration will have to incorporate a four-stroke layout with fuel injection to comply with new emission norms. Although delivering the same punch and feel would be difficult with the modern engine setup, we still expect Yamaha to tune it to dish out impressive and exhilarating performance.
The design, however, will certainly hark back to the old RX100 with old-school styling elements like a round headlamp, a curvy fuel tank, and perhaps some chrome-finished components. It could also be quite modern on the feature front with LED lighting and a digital display. Similar, contemporary hardware like alloy wheels and monoshock could also be on the cards.
As excited as we are for the new-age RX100, its official launch is equally far as of now. Online reports suggest that the new Yamaha RX100 will only be launched after 2026.
