TVS has been working on an Activa 125 and the Access rival since the last few years. And now, a fully camouflaged TVS scooter was spied inside an unknown facility near Bengaluru.
This makes us believe that the next scooter launch from the Hosur-based manufacturer will be of the 125cc scooter. The overall body proportions of the spied prototype resembles the Jupiter 110. But there are a few major changes. The instrument cluster is a new unit, with a part analogue and part digital placements. The tiny LCD screen is expected to show the odometer, trip meter, fuel level and also the Econometer which we see in other TVS scooters.
The other major change that makes us believe that this could be a 125cc scooter it its tail section. While the tail lamp unit is sharper and merges into the side body panels, the component above it is larger and doesn’t flow down like the one on the Jupiter. There’s also a slight bulge above this unit, which could be the external fuel filling cap. The front apron design is quite different too. The turn indicator units are larger and goes very close the vent, which now has a different design.
The mechanical bits of this scooter isn’t known yet, but there are rumours suggesting that this 125cc motor could get fuel-injection. Addition of fuel-injection is bound to raise the cost, which will make it difficult for TVS to price the scooter against its rivals. Also, the spied prototype is equipped with a choke. So fuel-injection is highly unlikely for this 125cc scooter.
Interestingly, TVS has recently applied to trademark ‘TVS Entorq SXR 125’. We all know that there was a scooter concept by the name TVS Entorq at 2016 Auto Expo. It isn’t clear if TVS will use this name for the upcoming 125cc scooter. We’ve contacted TVS to check regarding this 125cc scooter.
'This is just a speculation and we will not comment on the same' said a TVS spokesperson
