- 14,000 Chetaks sold to date
- New Chetak model is likely to be launched next year
- New plant can make 800 Chetaks a day
Bajaj has sold over 14,000 Chetak electric scooters in India since it was first launched in 2019. This was announced during the launch of Chetak’s new production facility in Akurdi, Pune.
The Pune-based manufacturer also claimed to have over 10,000 bookings for its modern electric scooter and will soon try to fill these orders. Currently, the new plant can assemble around 800 units a day.
Interestingly, the company also plans to expand the Chetak portfolio sometime next year. However, it is still not clear if it will be a new e-scooter or another high-range model of the Chetak. The company plans to start exporting the Chetak soon as its partner KTM has shown interest in selling the Chetaks in Europe.
We are expecting Bajaj to expand its Chetak presence in the country by placing it at all KTM showrooms. As of now, not all KTM showrooms have a space for Chetak scooters, but we can expect this to happen as we get closer to the end of this year.
