Hero Motor Corp has commenced operations in the African continent with launch of its bikes in Kenya. The Indian auto major has also set up a CKD assembly plant in the country as part of its global expansion plans.
The company’s range in Keyna includes Dawn, Splendor Pro, Glamour, Hunk and Karizma, which will be sold through local partner, Ryce East Africa. Hero will also foray into West African countries of BurKina Faso and Ivory Coast in a week’s time. The auto maker made a similar entry in Central America market few months back.
Commenting on the development, HMC Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Pawan Munjal said: "We are delighted to see brand Hero make its debut in the African continent with the first launch in Kenya. This is a strategic market for us in our overall plan for the continent, which is why we are also starting our first Africa CKD assembly operations here."
