Indian Motorcycles is in the process of recalling 18,367 bikes for an ignition issue. The unburnt fuel might pass through the exhaust system during a misfire.
If this happens, there’ll be an increase in exhaust temperature that could increase the risk of fire. Except the Springfield, Scout and the Scout Sixty, the entire Indian Motorcycles line-up is affected by this. The Chief Classic, Dark Horse, Chieftain, Roadmaster, Vintage and the Chieftain Dark Horse are a part of this recall.
Basically, all the bikes that is powered by Indian’s Thunder Stroke 111 engine have been affected. These bikes were manufactured between April 15, 2013 and June 16, 2015. The American manufacturer will be getting in touch with all the affected customers. The owners need to take their bikes to the dealership where the ECU will be updated to fix this issue.
We’re expecting the Indian arm of the company will issue a recall too, as all the Indian bikes are imported to the country as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit form US. So all the Indian owners, expect a call from your respective Indian dealers.
