1993 was the year when the first Ducati Monster was created and after 20 strong years and six generations we finally have visual proof that there is a new one. The 2014 Ducati Monster 1198 has been spied testing in Italy. The test motorcycle is special because it will be the most powerful Monster ever created by the Italian company.
The spy pictures reveal that it will be the first liquid-cooled Monster since the S4R and S4R S. The engine is likely to be the 1198cc Testasretta V-Twin engine that is also the heart of the Diavel. The power output is expected to be around 150hp and torque at around 125Nm. The spy images clearly show the single-sided swingarm and the dual-exhaust setup along with the manifold similar to the Diavel.
The company has very heavily camouflaged the motorcycles in a bid to reveal as little information as they can, especially near the tank area where the camouflaging is the most. The Monster 1198 motorcycle is expected to be unveiled at the 2013 EICMA in Italy.
We expect that this new motorcycle (once unveiled) will arrive in the Indian market six months after its global launch and will be sold through its dealers ( Ducati is not officially present in India) via the CBU route.
