It’s just been few days since DSK announced its plan to get the Benelli to India and now we have the latest version of the BN251 – the entry-level motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer. The 2015 BN251 was unveiled at the ongoing 2014 EICMA motorcycle show.
Just like its main rival KTM Duke 200, the BN251 is built around a trellis frame that has helped the manufacturer save some weight. The Benelli BN251 is powered a 249 cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The fuel-injected mill churns out 24.1bhp at 9,000 rpm and 21Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
The overall design styling of the bike looks very nice but misses that aggressive stance the Duke 200 has. The street fighter rides on 17-inch wheels and gets an inverted telescopic fork at the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking department gets 280mm disc at the front and 240mm disc at the rear. The Italian manufacturer hasn’t disclosed the kerb weight of the bike yet, but we are expecting it to be light and it will be a fun bike for city roads.
We are not sure of the BN251 will come to India as the company has confirmed to launch the BN302 for the Indian market via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route with its other elder siblings. The launch of the brand is is expected to happen in the next few days.
