The 2015 BMW K1600 GTL has been spotted testing. The K1600 GTL is a luxury touring motorcycle, which is quite popular in the US market. It was launched in 2011 as a replacement for the K1200LT and to rival the Honda Gold Wing. One of the five new models that the company plans to unveil at the 2014 INTERMOT Show in Cologne, Germany, the new K1600 GTL will feature a few cosmetic and technological changes.
The camouflage on the test mule hides finer details, however we can make out changes in the front fairing, the adjustable windshield and the mirrors. The luxury tourer gets flatter exhausts, which means that it can now accommodate bigger panniers.
The new K1600 GTL will also get a bigger equipment list with Dynamic Traction Control, Xenons headlamps, heated grips and seat, adjustable screen, cruise control and three power modes offered as standard. Hill Start Control from the R1200RT will be an optional extra. The optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment can switch the suspension modes at the touch of a button.
The K1600 GTL will continue to use the in-line six engine which churns out 158bhp and 175Nm of torque through a six-speed shaft drive. It will be available in two new colour options- silver or black. The BMW K1600 GTL is sold in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 36.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). As the Honda Gold Wing isn’t available in India, the BMW K1600 GTL doesn’t really have any competition.
