First unveiled during the first week of October, the 2015 BMW R1200R has made an appearance at the ongoing EICMA motorcycle show. This new model is based on the same tubular steel bridge frame which has the boxer engine as a self-supporting component. It has been designed in keeping with high a performance streetfighter lineage in mind.
The 2015 R1200R borrows many styling cues from the Concept Roadster, which was revealed by BMW, earlier this year. It is powered by the new liquid-cooled boxer engine which is also employed in the R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure and the R1200RT. The engine churns out 125bhp of power and 125Nm of torque through a six-speed gearbox.
The 2015 R1200R features a conventional telescopic front fork instead of the Telelever setup. It packs in modern electronics like ABS, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment, banking detection and different riding modes. The instrument cluster is made up of an analogue speedometer and a digital display. The new R1200R is expected to make its Indian debut soon after its global launch.
