Honda has launched an updated version of the Aviator at Rs 50,863 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Aviator is being offered in two variants – standard and deluxe, of which the latter is available with a disc brake at the front.
Being just a facelift, the new Aviator is mechanically identical to the previous model, though it does get a few cosmetic updates. The single-piece seat and the floorboard of the new Aviator come painted in a dark brown colour. It also comes with new paint schemes – pearl igneous black, standard silver metallic, rebel red metallic and pearl sunbeam white.
Powering the Aviator is the 109.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is also used in the Activa range. This engine delivers 8bhp and 8.77Nm of torque to the rear wheel through a CVT gearbox. The front 12-inch rim rides on telescopic suspension, while the rear 10-inch wheel gets a spring loaded hydraulic type suspension. The standard variant comes with drum brakes both at the front and rear, though the Deluxe version gets a 190mm disc at the front. Honda’s innovative combined braking system (CBS) is offered as standard.
With the launch of this new Aviator and the Activa-I, Honda has now updated its entire range of scooter line-up for 2015. The Aviator competes with other scooters like the Hero Maestro, TVS Jupiter and the Yamaha Alpha.
