The 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 has been unveiled the 2014 Intermot Show in Cologne, Germany. The adventure tourer motorcycle has received some comprehensive cosmetic and technological updates, though it continues to be based on the same platform.
The new frame has been slightly altered for a stronger rear section, to accommodate bigger panniers. The biggest update, however, is in the styling department. The new Versys 1000 gets a brand new streamlined fairing with a new headlamp design, which lends the motorcycle a leaner and sharper look.
The new Versys 1000 retains the 1,043cc engine which churns out 120bhp and 102Nm of torque through a six-speed gearbox. The liquid-cooled powertrain gets a three-mode KTRC traction control system as well as full and low engine maps. The Versys 1000 gets 17-inch wheels which might not be suitable for extreme off-roading, though it does get an adjustable windshield, wide handlebars and a tall riding position to aid its touring ability.
Kawasaki has also released the promo video of the motorcycle, which was shot along the Transfagarasan and Transalpina highways in Romania. The shoot of these promo videos was the source of the first spy pictures of the motorcycle.
The Versys 100 will be available in three two-tone paint schemes - candy burnt orange/metallic spark black, flat ebony/metallic spark black and pearl stardust white/metallic spark black. Prices of the new Versys 1000 are expected to be revealed at the EICMA, in November. The Versys 1000 rivals other litre-class adventure tourer motorcycles like the Aprilia Dorsoduro, Triumph Tiger Explorer and the Ducati Multistrada.
