The 2015 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been spotted for the first time ever in its full glory at the motorcycles’ official photo shoot in the United States. While introducing naked versions of the superbikes is a common trend among motorcycle manufacturers nowadays, the GSX-S1000 is Suzuki’s first such litre bike to be derived from its superbike sibling.
The styling of the GSX-S1000 seems to be heavily influenced by the smaller GSR750 naked bike. Naked motorcycles feature some of the most aggressive elements and the GSX-S1000 has them all. A massive sculpted fuel tank, midship exhaust, massive brakes, menacing air scoops and headlamps give the GSX-S1000 a sinister look.
The chassis and engine of the GSX-S1000 is similar to the one in the GSX-R1000 superbike. It will be powered by the four-cylinder 999cc engine from the GSX-R1000, though the engine will be tuned to give the naked motorcycle its own characteristic. The power output is expected to be somewhere around the 180bhp mark. ABS and traction control are expected to be a part of the standard kit.
Suzuki did sell a 1300cc naked bike derived from the iconic Hayabusa between 2007 and 2012, the B-King, but the production was stopped owing to diminishing sales. The Suzuki GSX-S1000 is expected to make its first public appearance at the InterMot show in Cologne, Germany, in October or at the EICMA in Milan, Italy, in November. It will rival other litre-class naked bikes like the BMW S1000R, Honda CB1000R and the Kawasaki Z1000, all of which are currently also sold in the Indian market.
