Aprilia Racing Team Gresini has officially unveiled the 2016 Aprilia RS-GP race bike for its 2016 MotoGP campaign. The motorcycle, draped in its new livery, was presented by factory riders Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
Though the 2016 Aprilia RS-GP might appear similar to the 2015 race bike, a lot has changed under the skin. The bike was developed around the powerplant, with a new frame and swingarm design. It comes equipped with a brand new technical and electronics package, apart from new tyres. The new livery prominently features Piaggio Group's emblem on the fairing, along with the flashy orange, green and silver racing colours.
While the 2016 Aprilia RS-GP had made its maiden public appearance last month at Aragon during pre-season testing, this is the first time the motorcycle was showcased in its racing livery. 2016 will be Aprilia Racing Team Gresini's second outing in MotoGP. The team had acknowledged that the 2015 season was a year of learning for them, and the upcoming season will be the most ambitious project the Italian marque's racing department has ever undertaken. Though Aprilia's best race result was a 10th place finish, the team will aim to rub shoulders with the top teams on the grid, this season.
