The 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 will come with an assist and slipper clutch. The inclusion of this new feature isn’t a big surprise as the Versys 1000, which shares its platform with the Ninja 1000, already gets this technology.
The assist and slipper clutch comes into play when excessive engine braking occurs as a result of quick or accidental downshifts. It forces the clutch hub and operating plate apart, relieving pressure on the clutch plates and reducing the back torque. This prevents the rear tyre from locking and skidding. This assist and slipper clutch is a particularly handy tool for sport or track riding.
Kawasaki’s Australian website has shown that the only technical change to the 2016 Ninja 1000 will be the addition of this technology. Cosmetically, the new Ninja 1000 will also get two new paint schemes – green/black and grey/black. While Kawasaki Ninja 1000 was launched in India in 2013, it is not yet confirmed whether these updates will be introduced in the European or the Indian market.
