Kawasaki India had a quiet year when it comes to new launches. However, things will change from next month onwards when the Japanese manufacturer launches the Versys 650. Soon after this launch, Kawasaki will launch the 2016 Ninja ZX-10R in India.
Kawasaki has been selling the ZX-10R since almost three years now and there have been few takers for this super sport machine. However, just like the rest of the markets, Kawasaki wants to introduce new bikes in the Indian market as early as they can. The 2016 Ninja ZX-10R has been closely developed with the company’s racing team, to make this bike as close to the factory model. The overall design language hasn’t changed, but few subtle additions have made the bike look more aggressive and better in terms of aerodynamics.
The new Ninja ZX-10R is powered an updated 998cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine that produces close to 197bhp. This engine gets a new cylinder head, which is 20 per cent lighter. It also gets a titanium exhaust and new electronic throttle. This mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The new ZX-10R is loaded with electronics like the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which operates through five measured axes plus a calculated programme which allows the bike to know what is going on in terms of lean angle, pitch and yaw, acceleration and braking. It also sports Kawasaki Launch Control Mode, Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System, Kawasaki Quick Shifter, Kawasaki Engine Brake Control and the new Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control.
Kawasaki has equipped the 2016 Ninja ZX-10R with Brembo M50 monoblocs and radially mounted 330mm twin discs at the front. At the rear, there is a 220mm single disc with an aluminium single-piston caliper.
Kawasaki will bring the 2016 Ninja ZX-10R as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit and it will be sold only through Kawasaki dealerships and not Pro-Biking showrooms. Talking about the price, the Japanese manufacturer will price this version marginally more than the current model.
