The new 2016 range of Triumph Tiger Explorer has been spotted undergoing trials in Europe, ahead of their rumoured debut at the 2015 EICMA Show, next month. These new models will feature a host of technological updates to bump up their off-road and touring capabilities.
The new Triumph Tiger Explorer range will mimic the hierarchy of the recently launched Triumph Tiger 800 line-up and will be segregated according to the level of electronic aids and their purpose. The new Tiger Explorer models will get redesigned bodywork, new wheels and a retuned engine with a more sophisticated electronics package.
One of the completely undisguised test mules wore an ‘Tiger Explorer XRT’ badge, which hints that this is a top of the line touring model. This motorcycle came with WP electronically-adjustable suspension, though other entry-level XR and XC models might have to make do with Kayaba units. Brembo brakes will be offered as standard throughout the range.
The addition of new models to the line-up is a step taken to increase its customer base. By widening their portfolio, Triumph will be able to cater to a larger variety of customers with different budgets and requirements. The Triumph Tiger Explorer competes with other litre-class adventure and touring motorcycles like the BMW R1200GS and the KTM 1050 Adventure.
