Aprilia has revealed the 2017 RSV4 and Tuono V4 1100 ahead of their debut at the Intermot 2016 in Cologne, Germany.
The new RSV4 RR, RF and the Tuono V4 aren’t very different to the previous models in terms of looks, though they get new paint schemes to set them apart. Underneath the skin though, these bikes have been revised to keep them competitive in the cut-throat litre-class segment. The Italian manufacturer has tinkered with the 999cc V4 engine so that it is now Euro IV compliant. It produces 201bhp in the superbike while the streetfighter has to make do with ‘just’ 175bhp.
The biggest updates for the Aprilia RSV4 RR and the Tuono V4 are in the electronics department. The Aprilia Performance Ride Control (aPRC) electronics package now features revised a new eight-level traction control, three-level wheelie control, launch control, quick shifter, pit limiter and a cruise control. Of these, the traction control and wheelie control be adjusted on the fly. Both the bikes also come with a new Bosch cornering ABS system.
The hardware updates for the RSV4 RF and the Tuono V4 include TTX Ohlins monoshock and NIX Ohlins forks, though the TTX are optional extras for the Tuono. The front brake has also been upgraded with Brembo M50 monobloc calipers which now grip 330m discs. The lower-spec RSV4 RR continues to get fully adjustable Sachs suspension parts.
As both the Aprilia RSV4 RR and Tuono V4 1100 are sold in India as CBUs, we can expect them to be available here in the next few months. While the RSV4 RF competes with the BMW S1000RR, Ducati 1299 Panigale, Yamaha YZF-R1 and the MV Agust F4, the Tuono V4 1100 rivals the BMW S1000R, MV Agusta Brutale 1090 and the Ducati Monster 1200.
