Aprilia introduced the Shiver 900 globally earlier this year and now has launched it for the Indian market as well. Unlike its predecessor the 750, the new 900 gets a new bigger V-twin engine and a more comprehensive electronics package. This naked roadster goes up against the Ducati Monster 821, Kawasaki Z900 and Yamaha MT-09 in India. Check out the details through these pictures.
At the heart of the Shiver 900, lies a new 896cc twin-cylinder motor with a higher displacement than that of the 750's engine. This engine is capable of delivering 95.2bhp of power and 90Nm of torque.
There's an aesthetic revamp making the Shiver 900 look sportier. New fuel tank covers, front mud guard, side panels and the tail fairing are a part of the updates for 2017.
The Shiver 900 is built around a steel-tube trellis frame as seen on its sibling - the Dorsoduro 900. This frame is bolted on to aluminium side-plates and gets a bolt-on rear subframe.
The shiny instrument cluster sports a full-colour 4.3inch TFT display featuring Bluetooth connectivity. The rider can control the related multimedia functions through buttons on the handlebar.
The enhanced electronics package includes switchable traction control and ride-by-wire throttle. There are three riding modes - sport, touring and rain, which alter power delivery and throttle response.
The front suspension set-up includes a 41mm Kayaba upside down fork lending 120mm of travel. There's an adjustable mono shock at the rear with a maximum wheel travel of 130mm.
Aprilia is offering this Shiver 900 as a CBU model at an introductory price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). After June 30, the bike will be available at a standard price of Rs 13.33 lakh.
