Bajaj has launched the 2017 Pulsar NS200 and the Pulsar RS200 in India. These BS IV-compliant motorcycles have been priced at Rs 96,453 and Rs 1.21 lakh respectively (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Pulsar RS200 has been updated with new paint schemes to set it apart from the older model. The Pulsar NS200 gets more comprehensive updates – new dual-tone paint schemes, a ‘200’ decal on the tank extension, belly pan and rim tapes.
Both the Pulsar RS200 and the Pulsar NS200 are built around a perimeter frame. Under the skin is a 199cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DTS-i engine, which has been updated to meet BS IV emission norms. The Pulsar RS200 delivers 24.5bhp and 18.6Nm of torque. The Pulsar NS200 on the other hand delivers 23bhp and 18Nm of torque. Both are offered with a six-speed gearbox. While the Pulsar NS200 has to make do with a carburettor, the Pulsar RS200’s fuelling is taken care of by a closed-loop fuel injection system. The Pulsar RS200 also benefits from an optional single-channel ABS system, which costs an additional Rs 12,000.
The Pulsar RS200 is available in two paint schemes –blue and black. It competes with the KTM RC200, Yamaha YZF-R15 and the Honda CBR150R. The Pulsar NS200 on the other hand is offered in three paint schemes – black, white and red, and it competes with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Yamaha FZ25.
