The most dangerous rally in the world – The Dakar Rally, has got an updated route for the 2017 edition. The 2017 edition will be held between January 2 and 14 and will go through three countries – Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.
Chile opted out of hosting the 2017 Dakar Rally and that’s why Paraguay came in to the picture. As per the route planned, Paraguay’s capital Asuncion will be the starting place for 9,000km journey, followed by four stops in Bolivia. Argentina is home to the most of the Dakar Rally because of its gruelling and challenging terrains. This rally will end at Buenos Aires – the famous city in Argentina where the winners will be announced and the celebrations will begin.
"We will obviously go higher this time as we will head to La Paz. We will have four completely new stages which will allow us once again to surprise the competitors in geographically different and challenging environments, very varied terrain and with changing weather conditions. The changing weather systems plays an important role in the Dakar because it can – from one day to the next – completely change the racing conditions," said Etienne Lavigne, race director, Dakar Rally.
The good news for us is that Hero MotoCorp will participate in the Dakar Rally 2017 along with Speedbrain GmbH. The riders for the job are CS Santosh and Joaquim Rodrigues. We really appreciate Hero MotoCorp choosing India’s most accomplished rider for this epic rally.
