A batch of studio photos of the Ducati Supersport has been leaked ahead of the bike’s unveiling later this evening. Internally called Project 1312, the Ducati Supersport is a mellow road bike which will be positioned below the performance-oriented 959 Panigale.
Though the styling borrows major cues from the 959 Panigale, the Ducati Supersport will actually be based on a trellis frame like the Monster range. It gets a taller seat, different exhaust design and more comfortable ergonomics than the Panigale which should make it a more comfortable every day machine. The rear seat can be covered with a cowl to transform the bike into a single-seater. We expect the Supersport to be powered by a 937cc L-twin borrowed from the Hyperstrada family.
The Ducati Supersport will also be available in a more premium version called the Supersport S. Considering that the demand for comfortable sportbikes in India has been rising steadily, we can expect the Ducati Supersport and Supersport S to go on sale over here a few months after they hit the production lines. The Supersport will go up against other sports touring motorcycles like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F.
