Harley-Davidson has launched the 2017 Roadster in India priced at Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A new addition to the Sportster range, the Roadster has been positioned above the Forty-Eight.
The Harley-Davidson Roadster has a minimalistic character, thanks to the chopped fenders and drag motorcycle-like compact riding stance. The retro single-clock instrument console integrates an analogue tachometer and a digital display to show speed and the odometer readings.
The Harley-Davidson Roadster is powered by a 1202cc air-cooled V-twin engine, which delivers 103Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission with a belt final drive. The Roadster rides on beefy 43mm inverted front forks and preload adjustable dual springs in the rear. It gets 19-inch front and 18-inch rear cast aluminium wheels. While the Forty-Eight comes with a single disc brake up front, the Roadster gets dual 300mm disc brakes. ABS is offered as standard.
The Harley-Davidson Roadster is offered with a host of optional extras including a conical air filter, louder exhaust, chopped tail section, lowered handlebar, customised seat and indicators. It competes with the Triumph Thruxton R, Ducati Monster 821, Benelli TNT 899 and the Yamaha MT-09.
