Hero MotoCorp is planning to launch a facelift of its highest-selling scooter, the Maestro Edge. A leaked brochure has revealed that the scooter benefits from a retuned engine, new paint schemes and the always headlamp on (AHO) feature.
Apart from the existing seven paint schemes, the Maestro Edge will be offered in two new dual-tone paint schemes with racy decals. It also gets the AHO feature to meet government regulations. Under the skin is the same 110cc single-cylinder engine delivering 8bhp and 8.7Nm of torque. Though the horsepower has been lowered by 0.3bhp, the peak output is delivered 500rpm sooner than before. The peak torque on the other hand has been increased by 0.4Nm and flows in 1000rpm sooner than the older model. While the brochure has no mention of BS IV-compliance, we can expect it the new Maestro Edge to meet these emission regulations which come into force by April 2017.
The new Maestro Edge will go on sale in the next few weeks. We can expect it to be marginally more expensive than the current model. It competes with the likes of the Honda Activa 3G, TVS Jupiter and the Yamaha Fascino.
