Hero MotoCorp has launched the 2017 Pleasure in India at Rs 53,800 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Pricier than the outgoing model by Rs 500, the new Pleasure gets a BS IV compliant engine, auto headlamp on (AHO) and new paint schemes.
While there are no styling changes, the Pleasure is now available in two dual-tone and five mono-tone paint schemes with new decals. The exhaust and the wheels have been blacked out and contrast beautifully with the bright paint schemes. It also gets a mobile charging port in the glove box, a light in the under-seat storage compartment and AHO. Under the skin is the same 102cc single-cylinder engine delivering 6.9bhp and 8.1Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. It now rides on tubeless tyres.
First rolled out in 2005, the Pleasure was based on the previous generation Honda Activa. Being a product based on a Honda platform, Hero has to pay royalty to Honda for having the Pleasure in its line-up. While it hasn’t been able to replicate the performance of its host, the Pleasure has been doing well enough to avoid the axe. However, we can expect it to get a new engine internally developed by Hero in the near future. The Pleasure competes with the Honda Activa-i, Suzuki Let’s and the TVS Scooty Zest.
