Hero MotoCorp has updated yet another Splendor model but this time in the 125cc segment. The 2017 Super Splendor has been launched at Rs 55,275 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The highlight of this new 125cc Hero motorcycle is its i3S (start-stop system) technology. Just like in other bikes in the range, this technology helps with fuel economy. This bike continues to be powered by the same 125cc single-cylinder engine as the outgoing model with no change in power. This motor produces 9bhp at 7000rpm and maximum torque of 10.35Nm at 4000rpm. Interestingly, the Splendor 110 iSmart generates more power than the Super Splendor. The gearbox is the same four-speed one.
The Gurgaon-based manufacturer hasn’t made any cosmetic changes on the 2017 version. It only gets i3S stickers on the side panels. In terms of the new features, the automatic headlamp on (AHO) in standard on this motorcycle. The 2017 Super Splendor is bound to help the company hold its share in the 125cc segment. But it doesn’t really need to worry about the sales there because the Glamour has been performing for the company. We expect the Super Splendor to get a comprehensive update after sales of the upcoming new Glamour (that we’ve ridden in Argentina!) settle.
The 2017 Super Splendor competes with the Honda CB Shine, TVS Phoenix and the Yamaha Saluto. Also, there has been no change in pricing between the outgoing Super Splendor and the 2017 version.
