A batch of screen grabs of a video of the 2017 Honda CBR 1000RR undergoing track testing have been leaked by a Vietnamese media house. While the internet is full of renderings and speculation about the next-generation CBR 1000RR, this is the first time that we have laid our eyes on the actual production version of this litre-class superbike.
Though there are no badges on the bike which indicate that this is indeed the next generation CBR 1000RR, the design language seems convincing enough. Aesthetically, the new CBR 1000RR seems like an evolution of the current bike with a few significant updates. The front of the fairing integrates a redesigned twin headlamp unit with narrow slits housing LED strips. The inlets for the ram air intake have been positioned next to the headlamps.
Under the skin, the new CBR 1000RR will get a revised version of the 999cc inline four engine. It will also get will a host of technological and mechanical updates, including a more sophisticated electronics package derived from the Japanese manufacturer’s flagship superbike – the RC213V-S. We can expect the final production model of the CBR 1000RR to break cover later this year.
