A batch of spy shots of the new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade has been circulating over the internet. Taken during its commercial shoot, the spy shots give us the first clear look of the production version of the litre-class superbike.
Speaking of the aesthetics, the new Honda CBR1000RR will be an evolution of the current model rather than a major overhaul. The bike stays true to CBR design philosophy, with the faring drawing inspiration from the Light Weight Super Sports concept. The front gets LED lamps to keep it on par with the current crop of litre-class superbikes. The frame isn’t all-new either, though we can expect it to be revamped to improve the riding dynamics.
Though the engine retains the inline-four configuration, it will be reengineered to help extract more power. Given that the other litre-class superbikes have already reached the 200 horsepower threshold, we can safely expect Honda to follow this trend. The engine will also be updated to meet the Euro IV regulations. It will also get a more sophisticated electronics package derived from the Japanese manufacturer’s flagship superbike – the RC213V-S.
Honda is the last motorcycle manufacturer to still have an old generation litre-class superbike in its line-up. The last set of significant technological updates for the CBR1000RR came in the form of the Fireblade SP, over two years ago. Now that the 2017 CBR1000RR has reached its production stage, we can expect it to debut at the EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, in November. We can expect the 2017 CBR1000RR to hit our shores a couple of months after the motorcycle hits the production lines in Japan.
