2017 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade to be a techfest

Even though Honda is running a bit late to update their litre-class supersport motorcycle, with the latest news floating around, it seems like they are all set to make up for it. The upcoming Blade is set to get a host of changes including semi-active electronic suspension and a significant weight loss.

An international source has gone ahead to reveal a huge list of details along with an illustrative image. Talking about the power, Honda is set to bump up the power output to around 180bhp at the rear wheel which means, it will produce a bit more at the crank. However, the motorcycle is still going to behind the S1000RR and the ZX-10R which are class leaders making around the 200bhp mark. The exhaust system will be completely reworked to meet Euro-4 emission norms.

In terms of styling, the Honda is set to receive minor changes and not a completely new design. The supersport is expected to feature narrow headlights, similar to the ones seen on the CBR250RR concept. According to patents lodged by the Japanese manufacturer, it seems like the motorcycle will feature a set of LED units on both sides of the fairing.

The CBR is all set to feature a ram-air system with a new redesigned air intake. It is also set to receive a revised fuel-injection system along with reduced internal friction which in turn will help increase the power figures. Another development is the introduction of the Bosch electronic control systems to replace the heavy Honda C-ABS system which adds 10kg to the current generation Fireblade. Other features that will come with this new Bosch unit is controlled ABS, traction control, anti-wheelie and cornering ABS.

What also works with this system is the Öhlins semi-active suspension that is expected to be part of the package on the new Honda. The suspension will work with the system and manage the front and rear damping to keep the motorcycle as stable as possible when under hard acceleration and braking.
